But that's a very good
thing. I was in the mood for something new and
exciting, and all the comic professionals I know had
mentioned this at one point or another. This was the
book to look out for. The new Scalped or the new
Preacher. So I gave it a shot. And I was very
confused. But
enthusiastic about the prospects.
This book has a very
existential way of looking at life and love. From
seeing a woman who is acrophobic (scared of flying)
as a flight attendant, you know this book is going
to be a little off. And once we meet Zayn, things
just get weirder and weirder. There's Fletch, the
punk rock Flight Attendant; Mrs. B, Blythe's
landlady who knows a thing or two about foreign
countries that no longer exist; the Etesian Front, a
group of vigilantes that seem to want to take back
the skies; and then there's the part where Blythe
finds the hidden country of Narimar because of love
and finds the way home because of the same.
It's so strange, but
it's beautiful.
Everything is weird
and out there and just seems a little insane, but if
you've ever done anything crazy for love (even if
that is just going on an insane roller coaster when
you're terrified of being that high in the sky and
going at that speed), then this book should mean
something to you.
I will be continuing
with closer looks at this book as time goes on. |
