Skrulltastic Voyages continue throughout these
books. And guess which one was the best this time.
Why of course it was Initiative 17, it's always
Initiative. Last week we had Mighty 18 come out,
which literally just stole from V for Vendetta so
bad that it's almost not worth mentioning. Sure the
artwork was great (Caselli is one of the next big
artists, trust me on that) and Bendis did some good
bits with the espionage angle, but Carter Slade's
grandkid is a
big baby. It's weird when the most adult character
is a 10 year old Phobos. But seriously, when Nick is
"training" the kids, it feels like Dark Knight
Returns and V for Vendetta. Pretty stupid overall. |

New 45 did nothing. Absolutely nothing. It
furthered no storylines. It did nothing but
touch on what the Skrull Pym and the Skrullder-Woman
did during House of M. A big bunch of nothing.
Sure they were sad when Skrullder-Woman didn't
kill Scarlet Witch, but she did everything for
them anyways. It was dumb. Cheung's artwork was
good. Even though everyone's faces are the same.
Initiative still is advancing their storylines
along. Ant-Man was kind of heroic by placing
bombs to allow the Black Ops team to kick some
ass, and being around and hanging out under
Skrullder-Woman's ample bosom, but having the
Shadow Initiative and the Skrull Kill Krew be
the emphasis of this book works really well.
I still really want to know who Mutant Zero is
(all signs point to Jean Grey, but could it
really be that easy, I mean, where's Firestar
these
days). I now really want to know which blonde
girl in the Initiative is a Skrull (Thor-Girl,
Cloud9, and Ultra-Girl are all suspects). It's
tense.
And Tolibao came out strong. His artwork isn't
perfect, but the whole Philip Tan/Leinil Yu vibe
he's got going works. He made the Shadow
Initiative look awesome, and when characters
like Trauma (Emo-Boy) and Constrictor are part
of that team, it's not the easiest task.
Oh yeah, and Jocasta assisting the SKK as well
as Devil-Slayer, I am totally in for next issue.
This book gets better and better each time, and
I have no clue how this will end. But I'll keep
buying. It's the best Avengers book out there.
No comment need be made about Ultimates. None at
all.
