BLACK SWAN

What's not to love about this movie? From the directing to the acting to the music to the dancing to everything this is an outstanding movie. I've been a huge fan of Aronofsky's since "Requiem" and haven't missed a single one of his movies in theaters since. And I won't. He's a talent to be watched and he's a talent that deserves immense accolades and he's a talent that not enough people pay attention to. My favorite movie is his film The Fountain and people hated that movie because they acted like they couldn't understand it. Now, accolades. I don't understand Hollywood. One of the best performances you could ever get from an action hero like Hugh Jackman and not enough people talked about it. But here we are. "Black Swan" is receiving Oscar Buzz and it is completely deserved. Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis and Barbara Hershey act their asses off in this movie. Vincent Cassell the same. It's amazing and outstanding how much work they put into this movie.

Portman plays the shy dancer who turns into a demonic version of herself and it's amazing to watch on screen. It's similar to her transformation in "V for Vendetta" only much more intense. Aronofsky has been perfecting his work in films since "Pi" and "Requiem" and this film follows the path he laid out in the Wrestler, the stripped down, barebones version of a story that he wants to tell and make exciting. And he does. Never in my life did I think I would be interested in a movie about ballet and the backstabbing and disgustingness that goes on behind the scenes, but looking at this movie, I can't even imagine how I couldn't think that.

Just superb. Simply outstanding. And then the crazy twists are bizarre. The movie goes from one to a Million in just sheer craziness out of nowhere and you're left standing there just shaking your head in astonishment. It's superb. There are not enough 10-dollar words that can be said about this movie. Just go watch it. Since you're all wondering, yes, there is a lesbian scene. Yes, it involves Mila and Natalie. Yes, it is worth the price of admission all by itself. Also, Natalie does a little self-pleasuring in the movie. You might like that too. I'm just saying.

Like I said, this is an amazing movie, through and through. The score is superb, as usual, from Clint Mansell. The directing is out of this world and the acting deserves awards for every major category and for directing and for films. This movie just simply ups the ante for all other films coming out before the end of the year, and like everything Aronofsky has done to date, it's come to be expected from his fans. And I'll be a lifelong fan. I cannot wait to see what he does with Wolverine and any other project he has coming up. This movie will knock you on your ass and will make you second guess yourself in the mirror as you leave the theater.
