Going to vacation in Paris, Shaggy and
Scooby find themselves on a cargo plane taking them to the Himalayas and
once again stumble onto a big mystery. It’s a shame how the animated
movies that were so entertaining with “Zombie Island” and there on, took
a heavy decline. “Chill Out, Scooby-Doo!” is another of the very weak
Scooby Doo movies in a franchise that was never very good to begin with.

Its influence and
importance notwithstanding Scooby-Doo has never been my
favorite animated character. It’s always been such a bland
and annoying property, with the same irritating voice work
from day one. Though Casey Kasem is considered a legend, as
Shaggy he sounds forceful and lethargic yet again. Not
counting the funny pun of having Shaggy become a DJ in the
outpost he and Scooby seek shelter in, “Chill Out, Scooby
Doo!” is pretty much the norm for this series and
characters.

As they enter into the wrong
territory, Daphne, Freddy, and Velma travel to find Scooby and
Shaggy all the while unraveling the mystery of the Abominable
Snowman. After ditching the “actual monsters” formula we saw in
“Zombie Island,” it’s pretty obvious by now that someone in the
group is the Abominable snowman. For children this is an
entertaining little animated mystery, but me? I was bored. I usually
am, with Scooby-Doo.
Some nice extras,
great packaging and simplistic formulaic Scooby-Doo make this a great
bit of kiddy entertainment, but beyond the target audience this will
have no value. It’s the same stuff again and again.
