And
I love Deadpool.
I
was worried last issue because it didn't seem
like good old Wade. Yes, he was still crazy, yes
he was still a nutjob with a gun and swords, but
throwing him headlong into the Skrullocalypse
seemed like a bad fit.
But this issue works. Way has grasped the voice
of Wade that he had during the Origins story and
has made him even more crazy. He is having a
conversation with 3 parts of himself all at once
(and the writer doesn't inundate us with this).
He mocks Rob Liefeld. He mocks the Secret
Invasion. He mocks the Skrulls and everything
they stand for.
And they actually believe that he could lead an
army of Super-Skrullpools when in all reality he
is just using them to kill the Super-Skrulls
already there.
It's pretty genius, and it leads to some really
great moments in this book.
This is a book to watch. When Wade says Holla
atcha boy, I laughed at loud. Especially since
it was said to Nick Fury who is a regular pain
in the Marvel-verse. And the one brief moment
they incorporated Wade-vision (that's what I'm
calling the inner moments) it did look a little
different, the color and digital techniques were
amped up. And it provided a real BWA-HA-HA
moment.
That's right kids. Bwahaha is back. And you
thought it was dead.
Check this book out for some good stuff. Way and
Medina are on the ball with this issue and the
zany factor really makes this a quick, fun read.
Check it out and enjoy what is one of the best
Secret Invasion tie-in books so far (and it
doesn't even feature the trade dress).
