ENTER THE DARK

Right from minute one, it's pretty clear that director Todd Miro is going for a big pay off that will keep us pretty surprised and entertained even after the closing credits. The problem is we're not sure what he's exactly going for. Thankfully the film is never too long at under twenty minutes and comprises a basic and simple premise that will keep fans of ghost movies thoroughly entertained. After grabbing a sound bite of a vicious growl in his house, Charles invites his friend Rob over to help him investigate paranormal activities happening in his house. Unwilling to move, and struggling with debt,

Charles and Rob devise a plan to find the source of the haunting, all the while Rob humors his friend Charles whose brother in law mysteriously disappeared and is struggling to end the hauntings or else he may just lose his wife and kids who have had enough. Most of the film is seen through the night vision lens along the dark corridors of Charles' seemingly serene normal suburban house and the two venture in to the darkness to find who or what is tormenting them and trying to figure out if there is one giant elaborate hoax at play here.

Miro makes great use of his play of shadow and suspense by turning the scenes in to a nail biting bonanza of moments that will definitely keep audiences watching in anticipation the entire time, all the while both men pursue this menace that begins leaving a mysterious message in the mirror and leads them on a trek through toys, random noises and the big pay off that more than met my expectations. "Enter the Dark" is a fun and creepy short ghost story with Miro displaying a finesse for storytelling along with a skill for atmosphere while also testing the waters for more defined genre fare in the end.

Director Todd Miro's "Enter The Dark" is a creepy and morbid little ghost yarn with a tight pacing, great atmosphere, plays on light and shadow that will leave audiences jumping and jolting and a finale that is one hell of an entertaining twist.
