THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN

Director Judd Apatow (Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared) along with Steve Carrell delivers an immensely hilarious tale of Andy Stitzer, a loveable loser who is pressured by his co-workers into doing the deed after it revealed he has never had sex. Carrell (Bruce Almighty, Ron Burgundy) is literally a "fresh maker" in this original comedy. He has many lines that are quotable and I'm pretty sure that the outtakes would make you pee yourself.

The 40 Year Old Virgin is original in many aspects. I feel that most romantic comedies have the same exact plotline with the same boring characters. Carrell, along with Seth Rogen as Cal, Paul Rudd as the celibate David, and Romany Malco as Jay, all add to the freshness and fun. Jane Lynch portrays Paula, the gang's wretched Smart Tech boss. The one who
stole the spotlight for me was the ever so sexy Catherine Keener. Keener portrays Andy's love interest, Trish. Trish has her own problems because she is divorced and is dying for some TLC. Keener and Carrell had good on-screen chemistry together and made all the awkward moments truly believable. There are a few cameo roles by Elizabeth Banks as the bookstore girl Beth, and the very cute Kat Dennings plays Trish's daughter Marla.

I know this will be the funniest movie of the year for two reasons. The first being that Steve Carrell is the next big thing. Secondly, there were countless of moments in this movie in which I nearly cried due to laughing so hard. I actually enjoyed this movie so much that I went and saw it twice! The second time was even more refreshing as I picked up on jokes I missed during the first time.

Although this movie is full of sex jokes and perverseness, the moral of this story is love will prevail and is most important over sex. The film flowed decently and never left you bored for one second. I definitely recommend anyone who loves a good laugh to go see this and buy it when it is released on DVD, they will not be disappointed.

Apatow and Carrell deliver one of the most original, freshest, and funniest romantic comedies known to date, The 40 year old virgin is one movie you will laugh your tail off till the very end.
