It was only a matter of time until Batman teamed with Sherlock Holmes and, surely enough like "The Brave and the Bold," the team up is surprisingly entertaining. I was initially against the entire concept of "The Brave and the Bold," but with the rising horizons of the series and the unmitigated ability to give fans their much wanted guest sports from their favorite stars, the show really has managed to grow on me. The Chuck Dixon era inspired series is one of the most diverse and wildly inventive series to depict Batman among his contemporaries. And while it lacks the suspense and overall adult drive the original Bruce Timm series from the nineties did, it stands alone as one of the more creative adaptations of Batman out there where he's able to confront and cross over with various superheroes and battle an array of super villains, all of whom can never seem to let Batman take off the cape and cowl for a little while and rest as Bruce Wayne. A superhero's work is never done, I guess. With the increasing likelihood of a guest sport from Superman,

Part two is a reasonably entertaining lead-in to his guest spot with some equally epic guest starring from equally iconic characters like Sherlock Holmes who teams up with the Bats to take on the Gentleman Ghost. There is also of course an appearance from the infamous DC icon OMAC, and the Batman led Outsiders, while folks like Blue Beetle and Booster Gold come aboard again to fight crime with the Dark Knight. I doubt anyone will ever take Kevin Conroy's place, Diedrich Bader is a valuable replacement as a blustery and more bravado laden Batman who is never above monologuing while battling his super villains. And with Bader, there are some other fine voice actors like Will Friedle, Tom Kenny, and the immortal John DiMaggio, all of whom hold their own in this gradually crowd pleasing bit of Batman fare that's well worth the price of the DVD considering the entire thirteen episode list clocks in at almost three hundred minutes, I still prefer the adult version of Batman, but this is an okay time filler with a respectable goal in mind to tickle the funny bone of the comic book loyalists in the mood for nostalgia.
