My enthusiasm for "Brave and the Bold" has increased over the years. What I initially decried a watered down vision of Batman... because it is, it's become something of a guilty pleasure that has delivered in fun and pure entertainment. Sure it's not rich in mythos like The Animated Series, nor is it as dark, but it offers up some wicked storytelling matched with great voice work. I've grown used to Diedrich Bader as Batman over the course of the series, and I definitely can't fault any show that would employ Alan Tudyk. "Brave and the Bold" is an anthology television show featuring the Caped Crusader in various adventures he partakes in with his DC cohorts. What was once a Batman oriented show has completely given way to spotlights and guest spots over the years thanks to the series creators abilities to integrate guest stars without taking the spotlight away from Batman.

There are guest spots from Flash, Plastic Man, Firestorm, and Green Arrow respectively. Sadly though the series never quite featured a guest spot from Superman. That would have sealed the deal for me. Anyone willing to bend to the series charming atmosphere and dashing charm will immediately be taken with "Brave and the Bold" as its a fun and charismatic take on the Dark Knight that pits the detective against some of his greatest villains and best sidekicks. In one episode the sidekicks of Green Arrow, Aquaman and Batman team up to take on Ra's Al Ghul while Batman and his partners in crime fight Ghul's island in an attempt to save them from his clutches.

In another episode, Batman teams up with Shazam! when a villain attempts to revive Black Adam. And in another of the finer episodes, Kevin Conroy returns as the Super powered Batman of Planet Zur-En-Arrh, a gadget loving super human who teams with the current Batman to take down the foe Rohtul (as played by Clancy Brown channeling Lex Luthor), the main foe of his planet when he poses a particular threat after learning of Super-Batman's weakness. There's also a cameo by Dana Delaney who plays a savvy journalist (in reference to her role of Lois Lane). "Brave and the Bold" has grown on me over the years and it's a fun time for fans willing to divorce themselves from the grim Batman counterparts and are open to the golden age adventures that this series invokes. I look forward to a season set very soon.
