BUKOWSKI: BORN INTO THIS

Well, this is pretty much all good from my perspective. I’m a Bukowski nut, as anyone who reads me knows, and it takes a lot to give me something new about the single most inspirational figure on my poetry.

Here, we have new interviews, information that you can’t even get from biographies, insightful interviews from the people who know and love him, Bukowski reading his own work, a steadfast documentary of the man’s life, and, even for those who don’t know or like his work, a thorough examination of the man’s life.

It’s not a hero worship flick either. It’s warts and all. They show the rare footage of him beating his girlfriend, Bukowski acting like an ass while drunk, and the bouts of emotional outbursts that are rarely focused on because of how much he remained in character through his life. All in all, the best documentary of the man in existence, and now one of my favorite DVDs.

Buy this. You won’t regret it. Hate to be so brief, but it’s that simple. Incredible work. The extras are the best on any DVD in a while, actually worth watching. Great stuff.
