THE DEVIL INSIDE
HER

See, here is what I hate in porn: Artsy
fartsy. Whenever a porno director convinces himself that he's going to
make something other than another stag movie and tries his hand at
arthouse, it's really annoying. Case in point: "The Devil Inside Her," a
mixture of Andy Warhol, Merchant-Ivory, and "The Crucible," Zebedy Colt
attempts an actual story in an hour, and fails with laughable results.
To call this a pure monstrosity is an under statement, as every bit of
direction and dialogue is painful, while even the hardcore porn is
reduced to satire that fails to be even the slightest bit arousing.
Taking place in 1826, young buff blond Joseph is seeing and sleeping
with the local farmer's daughter Mary, a young woman who is chastised
for her temptation by the gigolo
I'm trying to examine this in the context of a person who'd seen this for the first time in a theater before anything really gross inched into the blue theaters, and while it may have had some punch in its premiere, it's still nothing but a very goofy porno, in the end. When Mary's sister Hope longs for Joseph's affections, her pleas for sexual pleasure and passion are heard by nude Lucifer. The hilarity doesn't stop there. Lucifer summons his powers by literally masturbating and chanting in Latin, and uses his semen to turn into Joseph and create carnage in the household. The series of sexual chaos involves being penetrated by a stalk of corn and piece of carrot, having the demons urinate on Hope, using cum as a secret potion for love, threesomes, orgies, and incest. There's even a demon free for all in the climax. Whether or not Colt seems to be working towards an anti-porno by showing sex in its ugliness, or just having a time breaking every barrier in hardcore porn isn't clear, even after the horrific finale signals a sequel, but "The Devil Inside Her" is just a poor bargain basement example of vintage porno and sexploitation. So bad it's good? Sadly, it's just awful, even if mercifully short in the running time. Even lovers of the roots of pornography will be hard pressed to give it a chance.
