GIULIANI TIME

Most hold few, if any criticisms to Giuliani, like Bush early after 9-11, thanks to the portrait of leadership he offered in the wake of the attacks. This movie reverses history and takes us back through his honest history, without bias, without being one-sided, and with a strong and clean focus. There are few deviations. We are reminded of a man who came up with very strong beliefs and faith in his government, who helped put a series of white-collar criminals behind bars, who supported the police.
The title itself refers to what police called raping a detainee with a plunger handle, and the film vividly recounts an unarmed man shot 41 times by Giuliani’s overzealous police. It’s all portrayed here, starkly, without an overbearing narrator and pushing the occasional other side of the issue through supporters of Giuliani, all in all positing a very strong and heartfelt picture.
