To be fair, I'm really tired of horror films. I've really had more than
enough of them. They really haven't been a lot of fun lately. They
usually leave me in a grim funk. That might be considered a compliment
to some filmmakers, but I don't like leaving a film in a grim funk. If
you like films that feature loads of blood, sadism, and kills, Gone The
Way Of Flesh is for you. If you are like me and tired of horror films,
I would pass on this one. I just think horror filmmakers are thinking
that sadism is scary. It's gross, but not scary. It's mostly
unnecessary.
We have seen this played out story one too many times. A group of
unsuspecting young women end up sliced and diced in assembly line
fashion. Whose the killer this time? It's a killer who has a keen
interest in rock'n'roll groupies. He picks them off one by one after
performances by The Jason Martinko Revue band. Hot on his trail is a
local detective who hopes to put an end to this killer. The only
problem is that the officer has a boat load of addictions himself. Along
the way we get plenty of nudity, drugs, violence, and enough gore to
last you an entire lifetime. A major problem with the film is the fact
that everyone is pretty filthy and downright unlikable. You don't
really have anyone to care about or invest your time in.

You need some kind of hero or someone to offset the
villainous characters. Sadly, we really don't get anyone
that is human or interesting. Sure, the girls are pretty,
but they are mostly just meat to be slaughtered. You also
have to watch them go through some pretty embarrassing and
brutal deaths. It was not a lot of fun to watch. You might
say the film did its job. I say it goes over-the-top and
doesn't know when enough is enough. |

Truthfully, this film was very hard to review. The film says on the
cover that it wants to be balls-to-the-wall horror and take no
prisoners. It wants to be hardcore, nasty, and filthy. It was all of
the above. I suppose the film comes down to if you want to see a film
that features everything I mentioned above. I give props to the
filmmakers for trying to make a grind-house and hardcore horror film,
but it was too much for me. I like my horror films with suspense,
drama, and tons of emotion. I can only see so much gore before it
becomes boring. It has become boring to me.
In the end, Gone The Way of Flesh is either a film you want to see or
you don't want to see. Horror fans are everywhere and they love movies
like this one. If you want something more out of your horror films,
pass on this one. This one doesn't do anything new or original.
