The Sentry is crazy. And the Skrulls are scared out of their gourds by him. He just might throw their asses into the sun. And scream Tally Ho!

Commentary:
The Sentry is one of my favorite Marvel Comics characters, and I have absolutely no qualms about making that known. Him and Havok. That's right, Havok and Sentry. Am I crazy? Maybe. But this book was equal parts pissing me off and equal parts thank god they're revealing more about him.

BY THE SACRED BEARD OF THOR, THERE BE SPOILERS AFOOT

At some point in the past before the Sentry's existence was wiped out of the minds of all humanity because of the General and Mastermind, the Void was in the middle of a bank robbery when a Skrull warship made its way into Earth in an effort to destroy the Fantastic Four.

And who saved them by taking a header from the Skrull ship and nearly getting blown to bits? The Sentry. He's so awesome. And we learn because of his abilities, because of who he is and how powerful he is, the Skrulls are utterly frightened of him. They are scared out of their minds by his abilities. But they have an inside man (and woman).

Skip forward to the press conference day when they reveal the New Avengers and we get to see Jarullvis going through Bob's records and getting all the nitty-gritty about our pal Sentry and taking it to the behind the scenes characters of the Skrullocalypse. There's Skrull Pym. Skrullektra. Contessa Skrulltaine. Skrullessica Drew? Did they inadvertently actually reveal her as a Skrull in this issue?

Yes, yes they did. Or did they?

One of the major issues this book has is some slightly unpolished art. Khoi Pham is a strong artist, but I have a feeling the strange schedule this book has been on recently put him at a disadvantage, and his art (which feels very much like a mix of Leinil Yu and Jim Cheung, which is obviously a very good fit for a Marvel book and an Avengers book in particular) falls into the same problems. A lot of the characters look very similar. We're unsure if it's Skrullessica Drew or Skrullessica Jones, but it's definitely a Skrullessica that lives in the Avengers Tower (as she mentions those exact words).

Khoi's artwork fits in better with the day scenes, the bright boisterous battle scenes, and not so much the dark, mysterious scenes.

But anyways, Jarullvis acts very smart in this issue. He knows the issues at hand. He knows that Strange will be arrogant. He knows that Sentry needs to be taken out. And they do just that. With the Viskrull during the Savage Land battle, they tell him it's his fault (as seen in Skrullmageddon #2) and he rockets into space. He leaves the world behind for fear that he might be the cause.

And that last pic, that last panel: Void and Sentry combined to create what? A darker, more evil, but more capable and more centered Sentry? Is there more to this that we'll see soon?

MARVEL: DON'T TAKE AWAY MY SENTRY! I LOVE THE CHARACTER AND WOULD FEEL VERY SLIGHTED IF HE WAS KILLED OR MADE TO LEAVE BECAUSE OF THE INVASION FOREVER. It'd be like the producers and writers of Lost taking Desmond away. It would just not be fair.

Final words: What the hell schedule is this book on? It's come out like once every 2 weeks it seems like, and the things just keep happening. But thank christ there is an actual artist on it this time who doesn't rely heavily on Dominic Purcell and Angelina Jolie to model his characters. Thank the lord the artist was stolen off Incredible Herc and thrown in the Skrulltasm takedown and is front and center. And next month: MORE SKRULLS!
