MURDER BABY

"What happened last time?"

Watching "Murder Baby" is like watching filler in between "Saturday Night Live" skits. It's weird, peculiar, and wouldn't you know it? You can't stop thinking about it once it's finished. The premise behind it is very simple. A young couple is hiring a babysitter to take care of their baby. They give her a set of guidelines and warn her to be careful around him. What ensues is a pretty odd series of events that make this short worthy of viral fame. From the catchy theme song (thanks to Charles Scott) to the surreal grind house scratchy film grain quality, I think with enough viewers this could be one hell of a hit. Normally I'm not prone to enjoying shorts like this but I couldn't help but laugh at the acting and the comic timing from the cast. You also have to appreciate the sitter's reactions to the parents hinting that she's in for one hell of a night with their innocent toddler who takes to laughing and chewing on things and seems to be up to something. "Murder Baby" also furthers my opinion that underneath, babies are evil little bastards. The gore effects by Frank Ippolito are rather great and the final shot with the baby sitter is pretty damn sickening, but that's just the charm of "Murder Baby." Look out, that little monster is up to something...

It's sick, it's morbid, and it's surreal, but damn if I didn't enjoy the hell out of it. Directors Fang and Podgursky really outdo themselves with a catchy theme song and great gore effects for a short that deserves to be a popular viral on the web.
