What is the Original Sin and how does it tie into Logan's son Daken? What does it all mean?

Commentary:
If you've been following my reviews for awhile, you know that two of my favorite ongoings right now are Wolverine Origins and X-Men Legacy.

You would then also know that Marvel has decided to have the two stories intertwine based on some shared event between the two men, Xavier and Logan, and as both books deal with revealing the past and learning about who they once were and why, they decided to use that to their advantage and tell a story about the two men and their shared past and what it means today.

And what a grand old story it is.

It opens with Logan and Daken in China Town talking to a Buddhist monk who doesn't speak but will protect Daken because Logan knows him from their past and he owes Logan a favor. Logan probably saved his life. Logan of course mentions to the monk and his followers that they need to move Daken, make no mention of it to anyone, and also no mention made about Logan being Daken's father. He needs to be hidden as Logan is being followed by those followers of Romulus. I assume.

While this story is taking place in the present day, we are treated to brief flashbacks. Logan fighting Cyclops because Cyclops and Emma kept him from knowing that Xavier was still alive but he can smell Xavier on them (obviously tied into the last issue of Legacy). And another glimpse into the first meeting of the All-New, All-Different X-Team from Giant Size. And that story is quite a bad ass take on Logan and Xavier's mixed past.

Now, Logan attacks Cyclops, makes brief mention of secrets being hidden between Emma and Scott (like X-Force, the truth of Xavier, etc) and also basically calls Cyke a pussy because Emma fights all of his battles. It's great, and the artwork by Deodato again shines in this issue. I hate to see him go to a book like Dark Avengers which I have little interest in, but his art is just amazing here.

The way he lays out a page is pretty damn awesome.

The story in Chinatown plays out similarly only Logan leaves Daken to meet Xavier at a cafe. He tells Xavier that he needs him to fix Daken's mind like he fixed Logan's. He needs him to change a part of him. Take something out of Daken. Something that was taken out of Logan.

Of course, this being the Xavier with no memories really, he doesn't know what he did. Nor does he know how Logan could possibly know now. While this is happening, Miss Sinister (Claudine?) is attempting to steal Daken away from the Buddhist monk and his followers, only to no avail. She then has the Hellfire Club's cronies attack them, fire bomb the safehouse, and Daken is taken by them.

Daken comes out looking a bad ass in this issue as well.

What happens next you may not want to know. So skip the last few paragraphs for spoilers.

I warned you.

Logan and Xavier's conversation turns to the past and the first meeting between the All-New All-Different X-men. He mentions to Xavier that he should know why Logan was there. That he was there for a specific purpose. Something sinister. He was there to kill Xavier. And that last splash page is awesome. Of course, it's what they did in Ultimate X-men with Logan being a hired assassin, but I'm going to assume that the recent storyline from Origins means that Romulus or the Hellfire Club or some other entity had double-blind hired Logan to fight Hulk to prove his worth and then double-blind hired him to be in a position to join the X-Men to kill Xavier. Of course, this Wolverine was changed by that Xavier, the cocky and self-sure Xavier that was in charge of everything. So Logan wants him to do the same thing to Daken, to protect the X-Men and Logan especially.

The issue is a great start. It's awesome storytelling by two really awesome writers and great art by Deodato and Eaton (who STILL doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a great artist). I wasn't sold on the idea of the tie-in storyline, but seeing as I read both books, I'm in. I can't wait to see what happens next, and I really wish that both artists are there from start to finish.
