HEP B

I could relate to “Hep B” only because I come across a slew of nut jobs in my daily life living in the Bronx since I’m well known in my neighborhood and I travel through public transportation. There are times where people will come up to me and explain their life story only because there’s someone there, and sometimes I’m inclined to listen because, there’s nothing else to do. Sometimes their stories are weird, and sometimes honest, and the person here sitting at a bus stop comes across a truly nutty woman. The relationship between the two though is played with more dichotomy as an irony of a high class woman and a weird lower class hood who find they’re drawn to each other because they have nothing to say. One girl sits next to another waiting for a bus and begins spilling her problems out at her, and quite the problems they are. But the dialogue and situations ring true, especially to those who live in the inner city, and I found it to be an entertaining bit of observational comedy.

I only wish it made actual sense. While the metaphor, and dialogue is well enough I never understood what, if anything, this was supposed to mean. It was too arbitrary to a simple sitcom, and the obvious plot hints were there, just most of it never came off, and I found it hard to believe a lawyer in fancy clothing would be waiting for a bus. The acting is well enough, but the plot just doesn’t make too much sense, especially the ending which found me scratching my head wondering what in the name of god just happened and why the sudden change in heart occurred here.

Granted not much of it makes a lot of sense, but it touches upon true life scenarios, possibly one of the worst, and "Hep B" is a pretty funny focus of a woman who finds she's sat next to a pure nutcase who seems content in her skin.
