Continuing the arc from last ish, Rasl is being followed by a mystery lizard-like man, and the Picasso he stole is worthless. But is he in the right dimension this time?

Commentary:
I'm just going to come out and say it:

BOOK OF THE WEEK!

By far. Far and away. Everything else I read this week pales in comparison to this book (sorry G-Rider). There are just so many awesome things about this book that it makes me wonder how one person can create such an insane piece of work as this that is so starkly different from Bone and the other things he's done.

But anyways:

Rasl made his way back and goes to a girl-pal Annie for some loving and to get rid of the ruined Picasso. And to try and gather some information. He's unlucky there, until his dreams hit and he is smacked with the abrupt realization that he might not be in the right place to begin with. He asks Annie, while searching through her CDs, if she has any Bob Dylan. She does, and he's easily and quickly calmed down by that. The last dimension he was in and attacked in had no Bob Dylan, and he had to be certain.

We get glimpses of Rasl as the book moves along. We still, 2 issues in, know little to nothing about him. He's a hard-living, hard-drinking person with thick-skin and in love with a woman that he cannot have (the namesake of his tat, possibly seen on next month's cover,
perhaps?). As I mentioned before, he's like Wolverine. He's in for a tumble, a run in the sack, a trip to the strip club, a motorcycle ride, and some mayhem to finish off the day.

He is unlucky. He is in the dumps. And the people around him are not safe. Annie is murdered while he is at the strip club getting groped and fondled by strippers, and he has to make a dash for it. He has to disappear.

But where will he end up?

This book is all about mystery and wonder. The mystery is going to be fun to see unfold before our eyes. Who is Rasl? Why is he being tracked? Why does he jump dimensions to steal priceless paintings? Why are the people he cares about getting killed?

And the wonder is all the stuff going on in his head and the dimension-hopping. There is so much joy in hearing Rasl describe what it's like to jump and hop from dimension to dimension, and we understand that there are probably only a few people capable of doing this because it just seems so unreal and unsafe. It takes a person who is completely open to the attempted jump and getting lost in the stream.

Someone with an open mind and the imagination to see right through the world.

And that is Rasl and that is Jeff Smith.

I love this book.

Find a copy of the first two issues whether it be a first or second printing. Make it your duty, make it your goal to read something so wonderful as this unfold before your eyes. Don't waste the time now and then years from now hear how amazing this book has always been and have to jump on the bandwagon. Read this and Bone as opposed to one of those monthly tie-ins to the major event books or weekly Crises happening in the major two universes. Take the time to enjoy something wonderful and different. Something crazy and beautiful.

Open your eyes and try this book.

You will not be disappointed.
