The penultimate issue is here, ON TIME, with the original creative team intact. Spoilers be ahead so proceed with caution, so be warned, but the Skrull Wars: Attack of the Skrulls continues and leads up to its ending here!

Commentary:
Okay, so with spoiler warnings out of the way, I have another little tidbit to share. I find it hysterical that people are bitching and moaning about how this is no good and how Final Crisis is great. I don't read Final Crisis. I'm not a big DC guy unless it's the oft-kilter characters or Vertigo or Wildstorm.

I could give a crap about how good Final Crisis is. Anything with Crisis in the title usually means my brain shuts off (I did read and enjoy Identity Crisis, but that was character driven). I find it hilarious how all the naysayers bitching about Secret Invasion being more of the same have been shut out because in reality, it's not. It's not another crisis. It's not another multiverse. It's a Skrull war. A war that the heroes have to win. And it's come out on time. With FANTASTIC results.

This is the event palette cleanser.

From the first panel of this comic, you know the end is nigh. The heroes have gathered together, even the Thunderbolts and the Hood's group are there, and it's time for the final battle. And if those pages of war are not some of the best comics pages you've ever seen, with some beautiful artwork by Yu and Morales, then you're crazy. It's just pitch-perfect how well this book works seriously.

And Bendis knows how to tell it. He has Fury and Osborn playing off each other. He has Hawkeye pick up the arrows and get down to business. He has Logan do what Logan does best. He has Cap, Thor, Ares, and all the Avengers working together and kicking ass. Hell, Yu even puts Howard the Duck front and center, getting choked out by one of the more badass looking Super-duper-Skrulls.

When Spidey is talking to Iron Fist about how they're going to win, and how this is insignificant because there's no Watcher, and then the Watcher shows up, you laugh out loud. You laugh because you're right there in the thick of things with them. And that's the beauty of what Bendis does as a writer. He sets you in the story alongside your favorite heroes. Like good writers should. He doesn't involve ridiculous ass mathematical equations that turn people in zombies. Sure, it involves punching and laser blasts, but this is COMICS! It's supposed to be bigger than life.

And speaking of bigger than life, I have to clap for Leinil. I've been a fan since I saw his art for the first time on Wolverine way WAY back on like 113 or 114 of the original series, and I always told people, he's going to be huge. He's going to be awesome. He's going to the best.

Goddammit was I right. He's the best. Look at the stunning artwork he put together for this issue. Those insane spreads with hundreds and nearly thousands of people there. The Galactus-Skrull. Howard the Duck. Everybody. And just the sheer power in his pencil is outstanding. Of course, respect should be given to Morales and Laura Martin for just taking those goods and kicking them into overdrive.

And it's ON TIME!

Just insane.

I know that something terrible is going to happen next issue. I can feel it in my bones. When Jessica Jones joins the fight and leaves baby Cage with Skrullvis, uh-oh. Janet Van Dyne growing to EXTREME levels with some sort of ionic energy flowing out of her, uh-oh! By the way, I called that when Skrullowjacket gave her that growth serum in Mighty Avengers 14 or 15 or whatever ish that was.

I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
