MUSIC VIDEOS AND PERFORMANCES FROM THE TWILIGHT SAGA SOUNDTRACKS, VOLUME 1

I guess there's a good a chance that the producers of this compilation couldn't afford the rights to scenes from the film, because most of the videos here have footage of the movie but they're reduced to background fodder blurred enough for us to get the point, but to prevent royalties. That said, Volume 1 of the Twilight Music Video compilation isn't that bad a show. Sure, I'm not a fan of Twilight just like everyone else I know, but the music really isn't half bad, and with twenty full length music videos and live performances, you're given the variety of rock and roll that ranges from moody, to hard.

I have to say for a film so steeped in the mainstream with nonsense dripping from every orifice, the soundtrack really does entertain. And rather than shuffle through the music videos, I sat through just about all of them. My favorites would have to be "Eclipse (All Yours)" from the magnificent band Metric, a moody and fast paced love song with just incredible photography and a wicked beat. There's also "Meet Me on the Equinox" from Death Cab for Cutie, another equally entertaining music video and Mutemath's song entitled "Spotlight."

And those are only a few of the really catch songs available on this compilation. Normally I'd conclude most of this to be emo rock dreck, but "Eclipse" has so much going for it as a musically inclined soundtrack with a hefty chunk of legitimate rock bands who sound unique in their themes of love, and battling for love. Aside from the twenty unrated music videos, we're given the option of Dolby 5.1 Digital audio, and the Extras give us two bonus tracks Clare De Lune and La Traviata for the classical fans.

All in all this isn't a waste of time and not a solely shameless cash in. It's over ninety minutes and filled with twenty music videos and live performances, all of which are from varying degrees of rock and happen to feature some of my favorite indie bands including Metric. If you're a Twilight fan, this is a sweet companion to the your collection, and I recommend it for the respective buff.
