WHITE CHICKS

The only aspect of this movie that made this even remotely worth watching were the presences of the delicious Jaime King, Brittany Daniel, and Busy Phillips, and there are occasional funny moments. The scene where they're all singing "A Thousand Miles" was funny, the scene with the dressing rooms were funny but only because of the hilarious actresses, the part with the stripper confusion in the hotel room. But the slightly humorous gags are few and far between.

What do I define as double standards? When one person or a group of people are allowed to do something that would normally be frowned upon but are given exception. Case in point, "White Chicks". Probably one of the most racist movies I've come across in years. There's this disturbing amount of double standards in this modern time where white people can be made fun of relentlessly, but black people or any ethnic group just can not be touched for spoofing. Let's say this movie was called "Black Chicks" and featured two white comedians (I use the word not in the context of the Wayan's Brothers because they're not funny) whom are cops and dressed up as black women with all the usual stereotypes of weaves, long nails, slang, ghetto fabulous clothing and were being stalked by a big white guy, there would have been an uproar in the purest sense.

There'd have been press conferences, articles, and activists would have cried afoul, and the same case is for this movie, racism galore. And it's viewed as comedy. But I was not laughing one bit through the white stereotypes, and tired old routines of the Wayans brothers. People could just make the excuse "Oh but it's all in good fun", but the same could be said for minstrel shows, and does that make it less offensive? If you're intelligent, you'd think not. After the dreadfully unfunny and somewhat mind-numbing opening, we meet Kevin and Marcus, two of the dumbest officers I've ever seen, who ruin a crime sting in a convenience store and now must protect the two utterly snobby and obnoxious Wilson sisters.

The Wilson sisters are being stalked and are at risk of being kidnapped and now the two must escort them around a big gala event, so they move them to a safe house--no, they don't do that, they put them in protective custody--no they don't do that, they dress up as them and masquerade as the girls investigating--believe it or not, they do that after the girls decide not to go because a minor crash gives them slight cuts on the face. Logic would incur they get look-alikes, but no, let's dress up like women. Believable. It's far-fetched, ridiculous and utterly nonsensical developments like this that made this movie what is was, and this is chock full of the usual clichés we see of movies like this, and the shocker is the writers actually expect us to believe anyone would buy that the blond petite girls we see at the beginning are actually these two big black guys.

The Wayans' best jab at edgy humor was "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka", their only effort which was actually a funny outing, but god these guys just can not seem to break out of their usual conventional humor of obvious improvisation and are really unfunny here. I mean, it's obvious what the Wayans are getting at with this movie, but, sad to say, they are about seven months too late. Spoofing the Hiltons? Way to beat a dead whore, guys. And the Wayans' hope for the audience to moronically suspend their belief, but it becomes very difficult to do so when they're in make-up. The entire time was spent with me raising a brow in disbelief and cringing at their tired antics. They don't look like white girls, they don't even look human, they look like creatures, and I don't know how anyone could confuse them for women, and it's ridiculous for the writer to expect the audience to believe that they could be mistaken for real women.

And the one time where the Wayans have the ability to actually say something to the audience, and they completely botch it. There is no commentary about sex relations, there's nothing said about how people of different races are the same or different, there's nothing even remotely intelligent to this. There's not even anything that could be defined as "dumb fun". The movie drudges on and on with ridiculous comedy and toilet humor that is just painful to watch, and it all ends with one big "It's a mad mad mad mad mad world" type of carnage ending that was just so obnoxious and ludicrous in order for an audience to suspend their belief, they'd have to basically suspend their brain.

This is not just shit, this is corn-covered, maggot-infested, rotting horse shit. It's bad enough watching a dreadfully unfunny really awful comedy, but watching a very racist comedy makes it all the worse. Bad jokes, bad acting, racial stereotypes of all kind, crude humor, and just senseless scenes make this one of the most dreadful experiences I've ever had. Keep your intelligence, and stay away from this movie.
