They start their road trip towards Xavier's
palace (I assume in NYC, possibly San Fran, they
don't really mention where they're exactly
going) and Daken doesn't kill a man with a gun
because Logan tells him not to. So Logan now
believes there is hope for Daken. There might
be.
Of course, this leads into a lengthy flashback
(the rest of the issue) where Logan recounts his
first encounter with Hulk. It was a
double-blind, two ops hired him for the same
job, and he was supposed to impress someone else
while on this job.
The battle between Wendigo, Wolverine and Hulk
is shown in a slightly different light. Logan
knows he can't stop Hulk, so he has to attack
Wendigo to prove that they are enemies to the
same men. Though Hulk still kicks Wolverine
through the air (and Wolverine's explanation of
how that feels is pretty awesome) and almost
stomps him, and we get a little bit more on the
relationship between Logan and Romulus (who has
had a lot to do with Logan's past apparently).
The issue ends with that chance meeting between
Logan and Prof X, which leads me to think that
maybe Xavier had more to do with Logan's life
than he lead on. There is certainly more to the
story. And I'm looking forward to reading more.
Of course, Way kicked ass on this. He is the
writer of note currently working on Wolverine
(too bad Jason Aaron isn't still on a Wolverine
book, because then we'd be set).
Deodato did a really awesome job on art. Some of
the best work he's ever done. Ever. Period. His
Hulk was a MONSTER. He really looked like he
would scare the piss out of you.
Too bad he won't be on the book very long since
he's doing Dark Avengers. This book is going to
suffer without a central artistic voice. Maybe
Dillon can come back. That'd be nice. But
overall, this is still a super-entertaining book
that takes a nice look into the past of Logan
and continues a look into his present. Strange
that Origins is dealing with him now while
Wolverine deals with his future, but the less
said about Wolverine (Millar's run) the better.
