Original Sin continues. Sebastian Shaw and Claudine (Ms. Sinister) make a stronger play for Daken while Wolverine and Xavier have a heart to heart. Sorta.

Commentary:
The second taste of Wolverine this week, and another good one. Goes down smooth. Mike Carey plays to the continuity lover in me by showing the first meeting of Wolverine and Xavier from another light, this time one that is tinged with Who the hell is Romulus?

You see, when Wolverine joined the X-Men, he was supposed to stick out. Xavier was pushed into finding him. And Wolverine was there to kill Xavier. And boy, that art where he's in restraints, basically trying to tear his skin off to get at Xavier is all kinds of awesome. But it shows another layer to their relationship, one that Logan wants to exploit to help his son and one that Xavier knows nothing about. So they go on a trip down memory lane, until Xavier can take no more. Then it's Logan's turn to go and kill some Hellfire bastards and get his son back.

Only, his son is in a completely different area code and Logan now has to face the new Inner Circle (one I don't think I've ever seen).

But the rest of the issue deals with the flip-side of the Logan/Xavier memory trip as Claudine is trying to unlock Daken's brain, but having trouble with all the mental blocks set up by Romulus. Oh, and when those two kiss, disgusting. Ms/Mr. Sinister kissing Logan's son is a little weird.

And that's the crux of this issue. It looks like Sebastian and Claudine are going to use Daken for their own goodwill and Logan and Xavier want to get him back and fix him. There is more to the story, but that's the basics. And Mike Carey pulls it all along by telling the story in a continuity-filled way that could either make your head spin or give you a big fucking smile that will last for days.

That's what I've got.

This team, Carey and Eaton, need to stay together for a long time on this book. It's almost perfect. Now if only they could branch off and tell a story not so firmly entrenched in everything else going on, I think that would work well for this book. And I hear with the upcoming Rogue arc, that might just be happening. This is the book to look out for.
