"Room 314" starts in a hotel room and ends in a hotel room. The entire
film is based on relationships that will start and maybe end in this
hotel room. The film is also shot without the use of music. This
allows all of the actors plenty of room to act, breath, and do their
thing over the course of this film. The cinematographer of the film is
also the director in Michael Knowles. Outside of that, Michael Knowles
is also the writer behind the script. He's a sharp director and knows
his way around this hotel room. The film looks and feels like a
documentary. You feel like an unwanted visitor into their hotel room.
I thought this film was fantastically shot and very eerie.

The acting is also top-notch by
everyone involved in this project. I give the actors credit
because this film was based entirely in a hotel room.
Thankfully, everyone is up for the task in this
dialogue-driven drama. Everybody came ready to work and
ready to give it their all. Because of this, it's
unfortunate that they couldn't get a screenplay that shows
off their acting chops. I will go into that later in my
review. Also, Michael Knowles is in the film as well. |

He handles just about
everything in this film. I wouldn't be surprised if he was handing
out food before and after the film as well. I give him major props
for handling about one-hundred jobs in this movie. I wish somebody
would have helped the guy out in some shape or form. Nevertheless,
he pours his heart out in this project. Now, it's time to focus on
what didn't work in this film.
The major problem with "Room 314" is the fact that some stories are a
lot more interesting than others. A lot of the stories feel
unnecessary, tedious, and bland. On the other hand, some stories feel
intense, moving, and well-acted. "Room 314" feels extremely uneven in
the end. They also spend far too much time on certain stories and not
enough time on other stories. During the course of this film, we follow
five stories in this hotel room. A lot of the problems and situations
feel tacked on and fake. I understand it's a movie, but it must feel
like some of this could really occur in real life. You need to have
some semblance of reality with your film. If not, you will be rolling
your eyes. It's a shame that a lot of the good stories were lost in
this film because of the bad stories. "Room 314" is a film that is
cluttered, overcrowded, and overstuffed.
"Room 314" is a film that is defeated by its own demons. The film
suffers from mediocre writing that downplays everything the actors try
to accomplish with their characters. I give Knowles and company credit,
but I can't quite recommend this one.
