TAXI

Jennifer Esposito, who played Lt. Marta Robbins. I liked seeing her in a role that provided her to display her sexiness and authority. This was a downfall because she was in the wonderful masterpiece Crash. Although she is a fine looking woman and has potential to be a good actress, her resume is quite pathetic. So to see her in Taxi is disappointing but refreshing because she looks so damn good in an otherwise paltry film.

For what this movie is worth, I would have rather stuck pencils in both my eyes and ear sockets. The plot from the get-go is a total waste of time. I have no idea what Director Tim Story was thinking when he decided to remake the French movie into a giant piece of crap. Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah, please, get a new agent or furthermore quit acting. Neither of you can pull off any decent role and Fallon was about as funny as stepping on a turd. If this film wasn't supposed to be a comedy, then what would this be about? It certainly wasn't a romance nor adventure, but the only action elements in this silly cop movie is the crummy chase scenes.

Queen Latifah (Belle) drives a supercharged Taxi in order to get her passengers to their destination in split-second time. She is very uptight about her vehicle and even more feisty when she is driving it. She encounters Fallon (Dt. Washburn), a beat cop who is on route to a bank robbery. He hitches a ride in her cab and chase ensues. I think this has got to be the dumbest plot ever. Who would ever think of something like this? The cops in this movie are made out to be very numb-skulled and incompetent, especially Detective Washburn, played foolishly by Fallon. Come to think of it, he should have stuck to his SNL (Saturday Night Live) routine, at least there he was almost funny. He seriously is portraying the worst cop ever and his lackluster performance makes it even more horrifying to watch. How on earth can anyone enjoy this? I do not know. I was cringing as I watched Fallon attempt to drive a car and the whole scenes with his mother (Ann-Margret) were also totally pointless.

So the madness ensues as Washburn loses his license and is thrown off the case. The case being a string of New York bank robberies in which four Brazilian women have ridiculously accomplished throughout the city by driving a BMW. There was plenty of plot holes here and made no sense whatsoever. Nothing was explained about who and what the bad girls motives are. So once again we are left with a crummy comedy short of any good thrills, but with a few car chase scenes that weren't very exhilarating.

Bad plot. Bad actors. Bad movie. With the exception of Esposito, Taxi is nothing short of a car crash.
