NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE

This is a spoof of teen flicks from the past and present. This spoofs everything from John Hughes flicks all the way to recent hits like "Bring it on". The subplot is taken from one of my least favorite teen flicks, "She's all that". In the movie, the "popular jock" and gets dumped by the "popular chick" for a "weird guy" spoofing that weird kid from "American Beauty". So, the "popular jock's" friends make him a bet that he can't make a prom queen out of the "pretty ugly girl" which in fact is very hot when all that crap comes off of her.
It's no "Airplane" or "Scary Movie", but it has its moments. My favorite character though was "the token black guy", who was barely in the flick and spouted words like "shit", "damn", and "that is whack". Sometimes he mixed them like "Damn that shit was whack." He had me laughing out loud. Too bad there couldn't have been more of him in the movie. But I couldn't tell whether barely having him in the movie was intentional on the director's part, or whether it was just a mistake. Either way, it was hilarious. I liked the way he had these stereotypical black haircuts and talked nothing but slang. The funniest part in the movie would have to be where the party is going on and the token black kid sees another black guy, enter a cameo appearance by Sean Patrick Thomas (
Save The Last Dance, Dracula 2000). When the token black guy sees him, he says, "Excuse me, I'm supposed to be the only black guy in the party." That was hilarious. I also love the way this briefly spoofed "The Breakfast Club". But you'll just have to see that part for yourself. Anyways, this does have some funny parts to it like the cliched entrance from the hot girl, a great intro spoofing "American Pie", and the slow-motioned dramatic entrance seen in practically every movie ever made. But you might have to see about every teen flick from the eighties and nineties to get most of the jokes. There are some great cameos by Molly Ringwald, Melissa Joan Hart, and Mr.T that make this worth watching. Don't forget some great eye candy from Jaimme Presley who looks good in a red bra, mini pajamas, and practically anything. God Bless her.

Boy is this a major disappointment. I expected alot more from this and got alot less. First of all, they spoof a flick that I didn't even like "She's all That". Then they have these characters who are barely even funny at all. The funniest characters are the token black guy, the popular jock, and the cruelest girl in school. The problem with this movie is that it tries to spoof so much movies that it doesn't have a chance to breathe or even try to have a nice subplot. This tries really really hard to be side-splitting funny, when in fact there are only so much moments that I was able to crack up at.

This movie is occasionally humorous but barely has any legs to stand on. Don't enter the movies expecting a laugh fest. This is a let-down.
