TERROR TRACT |

This is a freaky movie. It starts off with an unusually
quirky John Ritter (Three's Company) who is a real estate agent showing houses to a newlywed couple on a
weird neighborhood. We automatically get the distinction that this is a weird neighborhood
by an incident with a cat. I'll just leave it at that. I'm going to leave some aspects of
this movie to your imagination alone. First, he tells the story of a woman who is having
an affair with a young man, then one night the husband comes home and catches the lover's
making love and attempts to kill them both. He tries to hang the girl and shoot the lover.
But his attempts are thwarted when the lover attacks him and kills him. They tie the
husband up and dump his body into a river. They soon find themselves attempting to cover
up the murder by a snoopy cop. But the wife keeps having nightmares of the husband coming
back from the grave. The story comes to a chilling conclusion where... I've said enough.
This story was great and presented all the atmospheric aspects and chilling characters.
The ending is very surprising and thought provoking. It's basically straight- forward by
presenting the story at face value. Pretty good. Of course, the couple rejects that house
with the grim history and is asked to be taken to another house.
Then he begins telling
the story of a family that used to live there, and so begins another grim story. This time
it's about a father who was very close with his daughter and had a very tight knit family,
until one day when the daughter discovers a lost organ grinder monkey in the backyard and
the monkey begins to take over. The monkey kills the family dog and hates the father, and
even begins turning the daughter against the father. It doesn't take long for the father
to come to the conclusion that the monkey is evil.
Now the father must kill the monkey at
all costs. Even if it means losing his insanity. This is a pretty good story. Not all that
scary, but very freaky. The ending is kind of sad, but in the end you're sure that the
monkey is evil and the husband pretty much went insane. There is a small role from ex- WCW
wrestler Marcus "Buff" Bagwell as the pet catcher who is turned into a dart
board by the little monkey. Tisk, Tisk. As you would guess, the couple doesn't accept the
house... I mean, would you?
So, John Ritter, mysteriously desperate to sell a house, shows
the couple another house. They ask about the history, and he tells them. This one is about
a boy who has mysterious powers. There's a killer on the loose by the name of
"Granny" who wears a granny's mask and brutally murders people. In the story, the
boy goes to his therapist and tells her his story of how his life was going good until he
began having visions of the killer. He could see when someone was being hacked up by the
granny killer. In the movie, actually, you can hear distinct radio reports of the granny
murderer, but you have to pay attention. Anyways, soon the therapist begins to suspect
that the visions are false and the boy may be the killer. Which leaves the door open for a
shocking ending that will make your head spin. Hell, everything else happens in here. This
is a great story. Not as good as the first one, but still has a great amount suspense and
violence. The shadows and camera angles are very tricky and give off that creepy feeling.
So the couple gets angry at John Ritter and refuse to buy any house in the neighborhood.
That is when the surprise ending unfolds. I'm not giving it away. So all in all, this is a
very good movie and alot of laughs. John Ritter is good in this one and shows his ability
at camp and creepiness. This may not be a high budget blockbuster horror flick... but as I
always say, the best horror flicks are the low-budget ones.
I feel sorry for John Ritter. I mean, did he need money this
bad to star in this flick? He looks kind of swollen and all. Besides, he doesn't have much
length as an actor aside from playing the corky guy. Which is what he does best. There's
no step down either. I mean, this guy was in "Problem Child" for god sake.
The story that ruins this entire movie is the one with the monkey. I mean, as
good as it is, and as freaky as it is, it's very campy and weird. The first and
third story are very creepy and suspenseful, then it drops in the middle.
This is a fun, freaky creepy movie filled
with three good stories that will pack a wild punch.
