The story. I like the idea of a pill that can make people forget and it
being used in the context of a film. The film has some neat twists and
turns and you are just as confused as the people in the film, which
leads to an interesting puzzle. A puzzle of what is real, and what is
fantasy. How much is really happening and how much has already happened.
This is a very personal project upon reading background on the story,
and I'm always one for people expressing themselves through film and
art.
The acting. Everyone is over the top, yelling, screaming, and trying a
little too hard to evoke emotions. The film did not feel authentic in
the delivery or the relationships. It felt like everyone was rushing
around in 16 minutes and attempting so many emotions at once. There is
not enough time and the actors do not have the range to pull it off
efficiently. If the film was feature length, it might have worked a lot
better. Give people time to talk, time to grow, time to have emotions.
Instead of going through 100 emotions in 16 minutes and not giving the
audience time to make sense of it all.
"The Pill" is an example of a good idea, but bad delivery.
