Vegas-based actress Donna Hamblin:
To start, please introduce yourself:
Hi!! It’s Donna Hamblin here! What a honor this is to be here with everyone!
What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror to me can be a Movie anywhere from Repulsiveness, and anything from as eager and anxious as can be to Gut Wrenching or a completely calm film that can horrify one. I think anything in the realm of surprise can make this a work of art to myself personally and also vivid creativeness. A lot of good horror movies have proven this to this day due to their creative nature.
What made you want to work in horror?
Well, first off would be my love for the genre. I also love creating in the acting world and Horror has given me a chance to do this. I love being able to portray hideous if the chance is to arise in a movie. That’s fun stuff for me!
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get inspiration anywhere from everyday people, Movies, Other actresses/Actors etc… and to myself, most importantly, research. Among so much more.
What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
My hope would be for people to remember me for working hard, being kind, appreciative and supporting others. I would be honored to be known in the movie world for this, among how much fun working on set is for me and the hard work I’ve put into every role.
What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
Women in Horror Month for me personally is a way to honor all the hard-working actresses in the industry. I admire them all whether they have done one movie, or one hundred. I think it’s a way to honor these women for all they’ve put into their skill and worked so hard to do. So many are deserving of this recognition.
Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
It would be easier to answer the opposite, as in my previous answer, “I admire them all”. I do think attention deserves to be brought to women like yourself, and so many others involved in Women of Horror for keeping this subject and amazing ladies alive in the industry. So, thank you for this Emilie!!!!
