Hi, I’m Hailey Piper, and thanks for having me! I write horror, with a few novellas out such as The Worm and His Kings from Off Limits Press and Benny Rose, the Cannibal King from Unnerving. I’ve had 50+ short stories published in various places such as Year’s Best Hardcore Horror, The Arcanist, Flash Fiction Online, Tales to Terrify, and elsewhere. I live with my wife in Maryland, and I’m trying not to upend reality too much.

I started writing at the Lorraine Hansberry Theater in my hometown of San Francisco, I was always a spooky kid and loved shows like The Twilight Zone so it was probably inevitable that I’d grow up to be a spooky old lady writing horror stories in my backyard stroking a black cat.

I’m an independent filmmaker, writer, actor, and musician. I’m most known for co-writing, co-producing, and directing Manos Returns, the sequel to the worst film ever made, Manos the Hands of Fate.
My Name is Felix and I'm a Kinemortophobe
Acrophobia, Nictophobia, Mysophobia, and Kinemortophobia. These are my primary phobias that plague me day in and day out. But… mainly that last one has been a nagging more insane but very troublesome phobia that has grabbed on to me since I was old enough to walk and hasn’t let go. Kinemortophobia (or Ambulothanatophobia) can be described as fear of the undead, or more importantly fear of the walking dead. Sure to some of you, it may sound idiotic and something to laugh at, but when you’re a little kid trying to sleep unable to go five minutes without looking behind you or sleeping near the edge of your bed, it’s not funny. And it’s quite traumatic. No, this is not meant to be a satirical article, this is quite real to me. I simply can not explain it. I’ve tried to figure out why since I was a child, but I simply can not explain it. I have a fear of zombies. Not vampires, or mummies, or anything else undead, but specifically zombies. The walking dead, the brain munching, gut gnawing, glazed over, staggering, shambling, moaning, groaning, mobile, green skinned, mouths agape, oozing, bleeding, rotting monsters that have become so absolutely prevalent in modern death obsessed pop culture.

The “Grindhouse Review Fest” originally began back in 2007, when, to ring in the arrival of the much anticipated “Grind House,” we spent an entire month reviewing grindhouse flicks of old and new. And we had a blast. And so did our readers apparently, since the hits on Cinema Crazed jumped considerably around this period. So this year, we decided to do it again. With more movies, a small time crunch, and much better planning, we’ve gathered classic Grindhouse and Neo-Grindhouse from independent filmmakers, and brought to you the 2nd Annual Grindhouse Review Fest. And just to show you that we’re not fucking around with this occasion, we posed a survey to ourselves and to our gracious contributors to show that we absolutely adore grindhouse and all of its sub-genres from sexploitaiton, to nazisploitation. And we hope you love what contributors Lillian Patterson, William Garcia, and I, Felix Vasquez, have to say about Grindhouse movies, and why it’s one of our favorite hobbies as movie lovers.
Horror Movies

Horror has become the dominant force in my movie purchases, movie viewings, and movie contemplations simply because I was introduced to the genre as a child and because they’re fun to watch. I seek out every horror movie there is, good or bad. I first saw “Night of the Living Dead” when I was seven, and it was horrifying. I have nothing but a petrifying fear for zombie movies. I’ll watch whatever horror movie you want me to, but I’m scared shitless of zombie films no matter what film and when it was made. My first glimpses of the walking dead feeding on an arm, chewing off the flesh scared me and it was the most shocking thing I’ve ever seen. Just talking about it makes me look over my shoulder in fear.
