Next month is the release of the blockbuster action film \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy,\u201d and it\u2019s every damn bit as great as you\u2019ve heard. It deserves its high praise and big box office. One of the key elements of the film that make up the character of Star Lord is his mixed audio cassette \u201cAwesome Mix Vol. 1\u201d which includes his favorite songs from the mid seventies to late eighties from when he was a child. It\u2019s the sound track that is the icing to an already fantastic film. Like every other music lover we have our own list of songs we\u2019d include in an \u201cAwesome Mix,\u201d so without further ado, here\u2019s our playlist.<\/p>\n

When the Levee Breaks \u2013 Led Zeppelin<\/strong>
\nIf I had to pick one Zeppelin song it\u2019d be this Southern, bluesy song about a massive flood. It\u2019s mellow, and it\u2019s catchy.<\/p>\n

Sweet Caroline \u2013 Neil Diamond
\n<\/strong>Sue me, but I love Neil Diamond, and this is a bouncy, catchy, and fun song you can sing along to without feeling guilty.<\/p>\n

Jukebox Hero – Foreigner
\n<\/strong>This is another rocking ode to music about a young boy whose passion for rock makes him a rock star in his own right who has to battle to stay at the top.<\/p>\n

Welcome to the Jungle \u2013 Guns and Roses<\/strong>
\nThe classic fast paced nineties anthem about drug use and a fast life, it has everything you need to get you pumped for tomb raiding.<\/p>\n

Three Little Birds \u2013 Bob Marley<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s a sweet, sad, soulful reassurance that no matter what bad thing happens in life, you can brave the storm and make it out as best as you can.<\/p>\n

Come See About Me \u2013 The Supremes
\n<\/strong>I have to include The Supremes in this list, as their music is usually very upbeat and beautiful no matter what song they\u2019re singing. This is one of my favorites.<\/p>\n

My Cherie Amour \u2013 Stevie Wonder<\/strong>
\nStevie Wonder\u2019s love song about the love for a beautiful girl is a great downbeat break.<\/p>\n

Mama Weer All Crazee Now \u2013 The Runaways
\n<\/strong>Starlord\u2019s mix had \u201cCherry Bomb,\u201d but my own favorite The Runaways\u2019s cover of the excellent \u201cMama Weer All Crazee Now\u201d from Slade.<\/p>\n

Hurricane \u2013 The Scorpions
\n<\/strong>Another of the great eighties hair anthems from one of my favorite rock band, and one that has a killer guitar riff.<\/p>\n

Someone Like You \u2013 The Scorpions
\n<\/strong>It\u2019s one of the first songs from the Scorpions I ever really loved, and it\u2019s a pretty great song about sex, so it has to have a slot.<\/p>\n

Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo \u2013 Rick Derringer<\/strong>
\nDerringer\u2019s great rock anthem about dancing to great music, having sex, and doing drugs is a catchy song that bounces back from rock to funk, and I love it.<\/p>\n
