Presiding over the jury this year is Joel Schumacher; here are five reasons to be excited for this year’s festival.

5. “Airheads” Anniversary Screening
For closing Night of Cinepocalypse, fans can check out the 25th anniversary 35mm print of the 1994 comedy cult classic. With director Michael Lehmann in attendance, fans can re-visit the goofy tale of Chazz, Rex, & Pip (Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscmi, and Adam Sandler), a trio of aspiring rock stars who take a radio station hostage with water pistols. Becoming folk heroes in the vein of “Dog Day Afternoon,” they take a whole city by storm. The movie features a huge cast including Joe Mantegna, Michael McKean, Ernie Hudson, David Arquette, Judd Nelson, and the late Chris Farley. Can you believe there was a time where Adam Sandler was a third bill movie star?

4. GWAR vs. Rock ‘N Roll Nightmare
“Rock ‘N Roll Nightmare” is one of the more celebrated horror cult classics from the eighties, and during festival at the stroke of midnight, fans can watch the original film with rock band GWAR in attendance. To make things even better BälSäc and Sleazy P. will stick around to engage in a moderated conversation and Q&A with all of the fans. They’ll also be riffing on the movie. It promises to be a party.

3. Tammy and the T-Rex
For years, 1994’s “Tammy and the T-Rex” was known as a silly comedy starring a very young Paul Walker and Denise Richards. Walker plays a guy who is murdered, has his brain implanted in to a robotic T-Rex, and goes on an adventure with his girlfriend. What many did not know was that “Tammy and the T-Rex” was originally a very gory and violent black comedy chopped down and edited for a much younger audience. Now fans can view the very rare R rated 35mm “Gore-Cut,” premiering at the festival for the public. It’ll screen as it was originally conceived: weird, gruesome, and soaked in its intended bloody content.

2. An Evening with Joe Bob!
A night with movies is not complete without Joe Bob Briggs. Author, Movie Critic, Investigative Journalist, and Film Scholar John Bloom (known by his persona Joe Bob Briggs) continues his tour with his popular “How Rednecks Saved Hollywood” where he discusses how rednecks affected the world of film. He’ll cover topics like the identity of the first redneck in history, the precise date the first redneck arrived in America, the most sacred redneck cinematic moments, how Thunder Road, the Whiskey Rebellion, the tight cutoffs worn by Claudia Jennings in Gator Bait, illegal Coors beer, and the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash combined to inspire the greatest movie in the history of the world, the reason God loves rednecks, and oh so much more.

1. So… Many… Horror… Movies
The indie circuit gets their spotlight again in Cinepocalypse, as the festival will host their usual short films block, along with premiering some highly much ballyhooed outings. There will be “Verotika,” the highly anticipated directorial debut from Glenn Danzig, the grindhouse shaded “Bliss,” the animated “Attack of the Demons,” “Kindred Spirits” another outing from fan favorite director Lucky McKee, “Darlin’,” the sequel to Lucky McKee’s “The Woman” directed by and starring Pollyanna McIntosh, and many more films from around the world. It promises to surprise and terrify.

The Cinepocalypse Genre Film Festival runs from June 13th to June 20th.

Ticket Information and Booking can be Found Here.

For another year, Cinema Crazed is covering the Cinepocalypse Genre Film Festival. 2019 promises to be a fun year for the festival as programmers promise to screen some classic genre entries, as well as screening some of the most unique and original horror films from around the world.
