I wasn\u2019t even aware there was a sequel in the works until I came across the trailer online by accident. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/09\/the-jesus-rolls-2020\/\">The Jesus Rolls<\/a>\u201d lacks just about everything \u201cThe Big Lebowski\u201d brought to cult cinema, and John Turturro never makes much of an argument for why Jesus Quintana deserved a sequel\/spin off during the entire film. It is pretty sad, considering I wouldn\u2019t have minded if Jesus ended up sparking a cult classic in the same league as The Dude.<\/p>\n<p>That said, here are five other sequels that came years (sometimes decades) later, and flopped big time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DumbandDumberTo.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32824\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DumbandDumberTo.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"634\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DumbandDumberTo.jpeg 634w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DumbandDumberTo-300x162.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DumbandDumberTo-2x1.jpeg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><strong>Dumb and Dumber To\/Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Released Twenty Years, and Nine Years After \u201cDumb and Dumber\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>This is kind of a double gut punch, and while not technically a sequel, \u201cWhen Harry Met Lloyd\u201d is (kind of\u2026) a follow up that tries to give fans the much requested sequel without Carrey or Daniels on board. \u201cWhen Harry Met Lloyd\u201d is a terrible, unfunny, and loud sequel that completely misses the point of the original 1994 movie. The sequel \u201cDumb and Dumber To\u201d is a god awful and often depressing follow up re-uniting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and putting them in these man child characters\u2019 skins. They\u2019re given nothing new or original to do, and seem bored most of the time. \u201cDumb and Dumber To\u201d was so bad I opted not to review it after watching it the first time. It\u2019s sad since \u201cDumb and Dumber\u201d is still a laugh riot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ID-Resurgence.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32825\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ID-Resurgence.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ID-Resurgence.jpg 618w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ID-Resurgence-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ID-Resurgence-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><strong>Independence Day: Resurgence<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Released Twenty Years After \u201cIndependence Day\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>Rather than striking while the iron was hot, Roland Emmerich took a whole two decades and finally gave us a follow up that wasn\u2019t quite necessary. \u201cResurgence\u201d arrives sans Will Smith and provides a silly, ridiculous, and often boring action follow up with a bunch of new characters that fail to muster up enough interest. Meanwhile, folks like Judd Hirsch, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox are shoehorned in to the film with not much fanfare or reasoning. \u201cResurgence\u201d tries to build on the mythos while setting the stage for a full fledged expanded cinematic universe, and fails spectacularly from the starting gate trying to take an alien invasion film and transform it in to \u201cStar Wars.\u201d I wouldn\u2019t hold my breath for part three.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blues-Brothers2000.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32823\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blues-Brothers2000.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blues-Brothers2000.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blues-Brothers2000-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Blues-Brothers2000-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><strong>The Blues Brothers 2000<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Released Eighteen Years After \u201cThe Blues Brothers\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>With the unfortunate death of John Belushi, The Blues Brothers were a dead music comedy combo that left us with a classic rock musical and action film. Never one to know when to call it quits, Dan Akroyd revives The Blues Brothers bringing along fellow Blues fan John Goodman in place of Belushi, as well as a rambunctious little boy who goes along for the ride. \u201cThe Blues Brothers 2000,\u201d despite bring John Landis back, is a pale imitation of the original, lacking the comic timing, and epic pacing and never manages to regain even a hint of the original\u2019s magic, even with Akroyd in tow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mummy-TODE.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32827\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mummy-TODE.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mummy-TODE.png 525w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mummy-TODE-300x204.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mummy-TODE-1x1.png 1w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><strong>The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Released Seven Years After \u201cThe Mummy Returns\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>The finale to \u201cThe Mummy\u201d movie series before it was retooled in to a failed Tom Cruise franchise, \u201cTomb of the Dragon Emperor\u201d is a waste of great ideas (fighting a trio of vicious yetis!) and a great cast. In place of Rachel Weisz is Maria Bello in a thankless role, Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li are given almost nothing to do, and the catastrophe of Rick and Evie\u2019s son continues. He goes from an obnoxious British kid in \u201cThe Mummy Returns\u201d to an obnoxious American teen in the animated series, and in only seven years is transformed in to twenty six year old man. This isn\u2019t just a lackluster finale, it\u2019s a lazy one, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-32826\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-1024x678.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-768x509.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-1536x1017.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev-2x1.jpg 2w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Matrix-Rel-Rev.jpg 1631w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px\" \/><\/a><strong>The Matrix Reloaded\/Revolutions<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Released Four Years After \u201cThe Matrix\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Wachowskis took way too long to unleash the sequels to \u201cThe Matrix\u201d and that\u2019s likely because \u201cThe Matrix\u201d was kind of a surprise hit that not many banked on being such a cultural phenomenon. Four Years after the whole craziness of \u201cThe Matrix\u201d died down and the style the film popularized was no longer in vogue, the sequel &#8220;Reloaded&#8221; arrived with kind of a collective shrug. Granted \u201cReloaded\u201d is a bit better than \u201cRevolutions,\u201d but both films are muddled, dull, confusing, pile on the pseudo-philosophy about fate, and consciousness, and are juist sadly unsatisfying. The anthology \u201cThe Animatrix\u201d is the true successor to \u201cThe Matrix\u201d when all is said and done.
