First of all, please introduce yourself a little:<\/strong>
\nI started writing at the Lorraine Hansberry Theater in my hometown of San Francisco, I was always a spooky kid and loved shows like The Twilight Zone so it was probably inevitable that I’d grow up to be a spooky old lady writing horror stories in my backyard stroking a black cat.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

What is it that attracts you the horror genre for your chosen field of creative work?<\/strong>
\nI love the challenge of making the improbable seem possible.<\/p>\n

Who inspires you in your work and in life?<\/strong>
\nHumans. We’re all such monsters.<\/p>\n

Women in horror have made great strides, but it’s clearl that a lot of work is still needed to make it a most inclusive genre. To you, what is the importance of a movement like Women in Horror Month?<\/strong>
\nI think that the acknowledgement of accomplishments is important and resets the narrative. If you know The Creature from the Black Lagoon but don’t know who Millicent Patrick is then you have a compromised understanding of the film.<\/p>\n

What would you tell an up-and-coming creative in the world of horror who sees that being a woman\/identifying as a women as something that makes it so much more difficult at times?<\/strong>
\nIt does, and sexism sucks. Don’t let the bastards get you down. Make the movie.<\/p>\n

What are your favorite bits of helpful advice that you have received about your work or your field?<\/strong>
\nDon’t listen to anyone giving advice on how to do something they have not done. Especially in film.<\/p>\n

In honor of celebrating Women in Horror Month, who do you believe viewers should keep an eye on in terms of the creative ladies in horror?<\/strong>
\nJulia Decournou, Gigi Saul Guerrero,<\/a> Ash Clark & MiChelle Nessk are proven entities & I can’t wait to see their next projects.<\/p>\n

What do you have coming soon that you can talk to us about?<\/strong>
\nI’m wrapping up a horror micro short for WIHM right now called The Interview as well as a character in Jon Sanborn’s The Friend with John Cameron Mitchell, also the final chapter of my award winning web series The Grey Area will be released next month.
