This documentary is done in a way that does not sugarcoat any of its content. There are fights, arguments, and more than a few scenes that will make many cringe and possibly get angry at the leads for what they are saying, doing, and how they are reacting to situations. There is something here that undeniable, the film brings up emotions no matter what side of the issues presented the viewer stands on. It shows things in a clear light with no specific agenda besides letting the truth show and letting people talk about their truth. This is something that will polarize some audiences, but it’s something more documentaries should strive for. Plancarte takes her subject and lets it develop for itself, she does not try to direct it one way or the other. Does it lead to a perfect film? No. Does it lead to a more balanced documentary that lets both sides of an issues speak freely? Yes. This is something that is more akin to journalism than most documentaries out that start off taking sides before they even get filming. This documentary does not take sides, it simply lets the subject be and the people involved are free to say what they want and be how they are.

The subject at hand may seem simple, but given the cultural and generational differences, it becomes more and more complex as the film advances. This does occasionally lead to a heavy dislike of some of the people involved and this can lead to a frustrating watch to some. The film does its best to stay neutral, but the viewer will not feel neutral in any way after watching this documentary.

Documentary films are something that is not easy to get done properly and while this one is low budget and limited in scope, it manages to do what many do not and that is to stay neutral on its subject, giving each side time to express themselves while not judging them. This is how any documentary should be, whether the subject is agreed with or not, it should let each side tell their truth and be allowed the respect to do so freely.

As a Native man and his Non-Native fiancee prepare to get married, the differences between each of their worlds and different generations come to the surface and create a sort of clash between the two and some of their loved ones.

[12
292,874,1179
post-35049","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-movie-reviews","tag-documentary","tag-romance","tag-wedding
["GET
