Please introduce yourself.
\n<\/strong>Hi I\u2019m Lesleh Donaldson.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is it that attracts you the horror genre for your chosen field of creative work?
\n<\/strong>When I was a kid, my aunt used to take me to see Hammer Horror movies and I loved them so when I<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>got a chance to do a scary movie I was beyond thrilled. Back in the late 70\u2019s early 80\u2019s, due to the tax<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>shelter in Canada, they were making two types of movies here they were Horror movies and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>comedies, I seemed to get cast in the former.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who inspires you in your work and in life?
\n<\/strong>I\u2019m inspired by anyone who is tenacious and doesn\u2019t give up and can also maintain a positive outlook<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>despite the odds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are your passions, cinematic or otherwise?
\n<\/strong>I\u2019m always passionate about acting but lately I\u2019ve turned to writing scripts. I\u2019d love to produce too,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>bringing people and scripts together is a huge passion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Considering this is 2022, why do you think we still need a movement like Women in Horror Month?
\n<\/strong>I think it\u2019s always great to celebrate women in anything so yes, I think Women in Horror Month is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>still good, when I was a young actress Horror movies were considered one step up from porn so<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>celebrating it is a good thing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What would you tell an up-and-coming creative in the world of horror who sees that being a\u00a0woman\/identifying as a woman as something that makes it so much more difficult at times?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
\n<\/span>It\u2019s hard but it\u2019s getting better. There are more women going behind the scenes and writing good<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stories. Don\u2019t give up and be true to yourself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are your favorite bits of helpful advice that you have received about your work or your field?
\n<\/strong>Well I\u2019ve always liked the fact that fans liked my work because I was the victim that tried to fight<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>back lol<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In honor of celebrating Women in Horror Month, who do you believe viewers should keep an eye on in\u00a0terms of the creative ladies in horror?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
\n<\/span>Charlotte Bruus Christensen ( CINEMATOGRAPHER), Jennifer Kent, just to name a few, Also keep an<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>eye out for Ari Aster and Robert Eggers I know they aren\u2019t women but they write strong women<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>characters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you have coming soon that you can talk to us about?
\n<\/strong>Well I\u2019m busy developing a half hour dramedy called Rubber Jungle and I\u2019ve co-written a script about<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the infamous Karpis\/ Barker gang called Ma Barker keep your fingers crossed on those lol<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you hope to leave behind in your legacy as an artist?
\n<\/strong>Making people smile and happy is always a good thing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
