\"\"<\/a>One thing “Claimed” proved to me once and for all. Say what you want about Rick Grimes, but when he’s pushed in to a corner, he comes out fighting, and always comes out ahead. In season two he spent his time looking for Sophia and ended up saving Hershel and Glenn’s lives from two nomads mid-season. Season four he mowed down a zombie horde with a machine gun and his son alone, and tonight not only did he avoid a group of really violent nomads, but he also evaded them without drawing attention, and managed to come out fairly unscathed. I doubt they’ll ever really know what happened to Rick and his team after tonight.<\/p>\n

What we know now is what we’ve known since the end of season one. There really is nowhere safe in the world from danger. And where everyone seems to be headed? Terminus seems like a risky prospect that could spell danger, or be everyone’s final salvation from the walking dead. And even if Terminus promises to be a wonderful land of safety, who knows how long it will last? “Claimed” spawned a two pronged premise and the best of the pair belonged to Rick, Michonne and Carl. With the trio getting settled in to the temporary shelter, Michonne and Carl go off to find food, and Rick dozes off in the upstairs bedroom. Much to his surprise he awakens to learn nomads have invaded the house and are now claiming it for themselves. And Rick has to figure out how to escape without being detected.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Meanwhile, Glenn awakens to learn that he and Tara are now being transported with Abraham Ford and his pair of companions. Ford’s friend Eugene not only knows how the infection started, but how to fix it. But Glenn just wants to find Maggie. Once again the episode belonged to Rick’s plight, as he has to conceal most of his wheezing, not to mention silence the loudest wrist watch in the world. Rick’s constant swerving in and out of rooms, and dodging the sight of the violent group in the house was nerve wracking, and I was praying he wouldn’t catch anyone’s eyes at any moment. The bathroom sequence is pure “Pulp Fiction,” Kirkman style. Never go to the bathroom without a gun in the apocalypse. And never put it out of arm’s reach from you either, morons.<\/p>\n

Michael Cudlitz really embodies the enigmatic personality and admirable determination from his comic book counterpart, and Cudlitz is a welcome addition. The tension between Abraham and Glenn is palpable and it’s interesting to see how they’ll eventually reach a compromise in their missions. Especially since Glenn has spent a lot of time being bullied around by the likes of Shane, Merle, and The Governor. Glenn is so much more defiant and it could either get him killed, or allow him to find Maggie finally. And Christian Serratos is really looking good in those short shorts and midriff. Suzie Crabgrass is grown up. “Claimed” is yet another fine episode with just so many surprises, and I imagine we’ll see one really gruesome and disappointing death before the season finale very soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
