The film is the more generic of the four present here and one that is easy to mix up with other of the genre. It may be a classic, but some will not be all about it. Here, the presentation of the film is solid, helping showcase the performances of Craig Hill and Lea Massari as the stronger in the pack and the cinematography by Ricardo Andreu. Some of the sequences here are memorable and the images do a lot to enhance them. The 2k restoration from the original 35mm negatives is solid. The extras on this disc are good with some standing out as the most interesting such as the brand-new interview with director Paolo Bianchini which is part of exactly what fans will come to this box set for, the archival interview with composer Nico Fidenco, and the new interview with editor Eugenio Alabiso.

Disc two here is dedicated to El Puro (1969), aka The Reward’s Yours… The Man’s Mine aka La taglia è tua… l’uomo l’ammazzo io, a film about a man named El Puro who is wanted with a price of $10,000 on his head, leading to a gang of killers. When they get closer and kill his girlfriend, he is pushed to fight back. The film written by Fabrizio Gianni, Ignacio F. Iquino, and Edoardo Mulargia, and directed by Mulargia, this one is a more interesting watch with performances that are solid for the time and genre, something that is a constant with this box set really, giving the viewer performances they can connect with here. The cinematography by writer-director Mulargia and Antonio L. Ballesteros looks fantastic in the new 2k remaster and the music by Alessandro Alessandroni works fantastically well to great atmosphere and remind the viewer they are watching a film with a very particular style. The extras on this disc are numerous as is usually the case with these releases, including four different versions of the film and a new interview with lead actor Robert Woods.

Disc three is dedicated to Wrath of the Wind, aka Trinity Sees Red aka Revenge of Trinity, a film from 1970 by director Mario Camus, written by Manuel Marinero, Mario Camus, Mario Cecchi Gori. The film stars Terrence Hill, Maria Grazia Buccella, and Mario Pardo. The film takes place in Spain this time and the bad guy is one we can all see as being bad these days, a local landlord and aristocrat who is abusive and demanding. The film is once again a revenge film with some twists and turns that separate it from the others in this set. The best features for this one includes the long Spanish version which is included here and has scenes that are not available in any other language and the new interview with Roberto D’Ettorre Piazzoli.

And last, but not least, Four of the Apocalypse by director Lucio Fulci who co-wrote with Ennio de Concini and Bret Harte, this one will appeal to horror fans due to the director and the fact that this was his only western in career. This one is perhaps the bloodiest and goriest of the four, unsurprisingly to fans of Fulci. It’s also one that boasts a score that really stands out by Fabio Frizzi, Franco Bixio, and Vince Tempera. This film makes the most of the remaster for image and sound. The extras here are a bit of a letdown to be honest as there are interviews, but all are with folks who, while knowledgeable, were not involved in the film’s production with one exception in the interview with production manager Roberto Sbarigia. The film is great to have in this release though, so it’s easy to forgive the lack of archival interviews which may just not have been available at all.

Overall, this box set is a solid release that will mostly appeal to western film fans and completists. It’s solid with plenty of extras, both archival and new, and the 2k remasters on each of the films looks great.

In this box set, the re-releases of Italian Western classics by Arrow Video continues with I Want Him Dead, El Puro, Wrath of the Wind, and Four of the Apocalypse in restored versions.

[12
824,1185
post-41958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-movie-reviews","tag-re-release","tag-western
["GET
