FIAF is thrilled to celebrate the seventh edition of its popular festival, which expands this year from a three-day to a six-day festival due to increased popularity, running from\u00a0<strong>Tuesday, January 23 through Sunday, January 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s festival presents\u00a0<strong>seven feature-length films<\/strong>\u00a0(including\u00a0<strong>three U.S. and three New York premieres<\/strong>), six short film programs, a &#8220;First Look&#8221; presentation, filmmaker talks, the annual Student Short Film Competition, and much more. New for 2024 will be the premiere of an inaugural limited-edition\u00a0<em>Animation First<\/em>\u00a0series poster, a juried competition of the New Francophone shorts, and a special spotlight on Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois animated cinema.\u00a0<em>Animation First<\/em>\u00a0programmers are Delphine Selles-Alvarez, FIAF Film Curator, and Chlo\u00e9 Dheu, FIAF Film Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s festival celebrates the power of animation to explore thought-provoking subjects \u2014as with the films,\u00a0<em>When Adam Changes<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Siren<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Mars Express<\/em>\u2014and magnificent worlds such as those showcased in\u00a0<em>Sirocco and the Kingdom of Air Streams<\/em>, and the new VR experience,\u00a0<em>Gaudi, the Atelier of the Divine<\/em>, amongst others, Selles-Alvarez explains. &#8220;With the inclusion of the inaugural limited-edition poster by illustrator Peter de S\u00e8ve, FIAF is highlighting its mission to celebrate animation as a cinematic art that\u2019s not just a genre for young audiences.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Created in 2018,\u00a0<em>Animation First<\/em>\u00a0is the only film festival in the United States dedicated to French animation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The French Institute Alliance Fran\u00e7aise\u00a0announces the program for the seventh annual\u00a0Animation First, the only U.S. festival dedicated to showcasing the legacy and innovation of Francophone animation.
