The X-Men property has been around for decades, and around the nineties, Marvel began developing the ideal \u201cX-Men\u201d movie. It wasn\u2019t until the year 2000 that we finally got the \u201cX-Men\u201d movie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But I think \u201cX-Men\u201d would have also made a great eighties action film, so I went back and cast an \u201cX-Men\u201d movie if it were developed, and cast in 1987! What if&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/mbiehn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42637\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/mbiehn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"522\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/mbiehn.jpg 522w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/mbiehn-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/mbiehn-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/a><strong>Scott Summers\/Cyclops: Michael Biehn<\/strong><br \/>\nThis seems like the only natural choice, I mean come on. Biehn would headline this movie as the militant leader of the X-Men who is loyal to the professor to a fault. He&#8217;d be part Corporal Hicks, and part Richard Gere from Officer and a Gentleman. Biehn has always been my main pick for Cyclops and Scott Summers, and I think his scruffy appearance would lend Cyclops the edge he lacked in the Singer movies. Biehn rocked as Corporal Hicks and would have made a very entertaining Slim Summers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins-2x1.jpg 2w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/bobhoskins.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px\" \/><\/a><strong>Wolverine\/Logan: Bob Hoskins<\/strong><br \/>\nHear me out. Chris Claremont always wanted Bob Hoskins to play Wolverine, and I can no longer think of anyone who could have played him in the eighties.\u00a0 Said Claremont: <em>\u201cThere was a film he did called Lassiter with Tom Selleck, and if you look at the two of them together, Tom Selleck is this 6-foot-plus powerful, handsome, glorious leading man and Hoskins is this little cop. In one scene, Selleck comes to the door of [Hoskin\u2019s] house and Hoskins takes one look at him and hauls off and shoves Selleck back down the drive, yelling &#8220;You come to my house?&#8221; and just repeating it over and over as he shoves Selleck back down the path and through the fence out onto the street. And the expression on Selleck\u2019s face is &#8220;Holy ****!&#8221; and I thought, bingo. That is Logan. That instant rage. \u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-42640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"629\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-2x1.png 2w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox-700x394.png 700w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/courtneycox.png 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/a><strong>Shadowcat\/Kitty Pryde: Courteney Cox<\/strong><br \/>\nA young Courteney Cox as Kitty Pryde would give the X-Men the youthful angle with Cox portraying the every girl who is born with amazing but terrifying powers. Pryde would be something like Rogue from Singer&#8217;s first &#8220;X-Men&#8221; movie but&#8230; you know&#8230; not as whiny. Imagine her channeling her character from &#8220;Masters of the Universe,&#8221; with the charm from &#8220;Friends&#8221; and she&#8217;d make a pretty killer Kitty Pryde, overall. Plus for the eighties, the phasing through walls effect would be easy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Michelle-Pfeiffer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-42642\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Michelle-Pfeiffer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"629\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Michelle-Pfeiffer.jpg 736w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Michelle-Pfeiffer-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Michelle-Pfeiffer-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/a><strong>Jean Grey: Michelle Pfeiffer<\/strong><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know if Pfeiffer would go red, but Pfeiffer as Jean Grey would have been pretty stellar for an eighties X-Men movie. Pfeiffer can play almost anyone, and a young Pfeiffer would have been a mix of beautiful, sexy, and brainy. Working off of Biehn&#8217;s Cyclops while also battling rival mutants would have been pretty excellent to experience, and she&#8217;d be one of the big names for box office draw and appeal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Vanity-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Vanity-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"629\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Vanity-1.jpg 629w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Vanity-1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Vanity-1-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/a><strong>Storm\/Ororo Munroe: Vanity<\/strong><br \/>\nThe popular choice for Storm was always Angela Bassett, but for the eighties, I definitely would have gone for Vanity. Vanity, of course, was a singer for Prince who was dreamy in &#8220;The Last Dragon,&#8221; and with white hair, she&#8217;d have been a pretty boss and punk rock Storm who could add some big appeal to music fans. Plus giving her the silver suit along with Storm&#8217;s signature cape would have added to the dazzle. I don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;d have given her the mohawk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DOS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42645\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"629\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DOS.jpg 629w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DOS-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DOS-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/a><strong>Professor Charles Xavier: David Ogden Stiers<\/strong><br \/>\nOgden Stiers would have been a great Professor X. Although he doesn&#8217;t entirely resemble the Professor, he&#8217;d have added a real class and pop to the character who spends most of his time in the wheel chair guiding the X-men and clashing with his students. Plus I&#8217;d have had at least one scene where Ogden Stiers and Hoskins would play off of one another in a heated confrontation involving screaming and whatnot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rutger-hauer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42646\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rutger-hauer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rutger-hauer.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rutger-hauer-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/rutger-hauer-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><strong>Magneto: Rutger Hauer<\/strong><br \/>\nI mean who else? Rutger Hauer is one of the ultimate movie villain actors and he would have been quite excellent as Magneto. Granted he\u2019s not as old as Ogden Stiers, but that could be forgiven in some respects if their origins were retconned a bit. Heck, they were massively retconned in \u201cFirst Class,\u201d after all. In his prime, Hauer could play despicable monster or dashing villain, and as Magneto he would have been a prime candidate as this leader charging in to this war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jjmiller.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42647\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jjmiller.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jjmiller.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jjmiller-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/jjmiller-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><strong>Toad: Joshua John Miller<\/strong><br \/>\nToad would have been a good supporting character and Joshua John Miller from \u201cClass of 1999\u201d and \u201cNear Dark\u201d would have lent the character some tragedy and complexity. I picture him as the weak link Magneto\u2019s movement. Miller has a penchant for playing tragic characters after all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/sher-fenn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/sher-fenn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/sher-fenn.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/sher-fenn-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/sher-fenn-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><strong>Rogue: Sherilyn Fenn<\/strong><br \/>\nMany forget that Rogue used to be a part of Magneto\u2019s team before joining the X-Men and my X-Men movie from the eighties would have Rogue as a villain first, working to hurt the X-Men as much as possible. She&#8217;s someone who&#8217;d be a mean villain capable of eventually becoming the Southern Belle superhero we&#8217;d eventually love. Sherilyn Fenn could pull off the Southern Belle in her sleep, and as Rogue she could also be a great villain struggling with her loyalties.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-42639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson.jpg 853w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson-2x1.jpg 2w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/brian-thompson-700x394.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><strong>Sabretooth: Brian Thompson<\/strong><br \/>\nWho wouldn\u2019t want the man from \u201cCobra\u201d and \u201cDeath Warrant\u201d to go toe to toe with Wolverine in the X-Men movie as Sabretooth? Thompson is a terrifying and imposing character actor who&#8217;d give Sabretooth a quality that we&#8217;d never seen in the comics. This character would be easy to put on screen and Thompson would be an opposing force in the role.
