Hannah Fierman has been in the horror lens for years now and she is the embodiement of a horror creative, here are her thoughts on Horror, Women in Horror Month, and more:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

To start, please introduce yourself:
\n<\/strong>Hi, my name is Hannah. I work in film and television, mostly in the genre of horror. I started out as an actor at 3 years old and now also produce, write and direct. I love storytelling in any genre or medium.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
\n<\/strong>It\u2019s all about having a compelling\/relatable story and telling it well. I think a work of art is the same in any genre, it\u2019s all good storytelling but in horror, it also needs to be frightening. Personally, I like misunderstood monster stories the best. \u263a\ufe0f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What made you want to work in horror?
\n<\/strong>Its flexibility. The audience is welcoming of new, sometimes crazy, ideas and not judgmental of lower budget productions. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where do you get your inspiration?
\n<\/strong>The real answer is from everywhere and everything but specifically, mostly the script itself. If it doesn\u2019t pop off the page into your imagination, it\u2019s probably not the right script for you. After that, it\u2019s just about putting the pieces together and casting the right people for the job.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
\n<\/strong>I would like to be known as the Director, who has the most eggs in her basket. It would be nice for audiences to be able to watch my work over and over again and still see something new every time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
\n<\/strong>Horror would be a gigantic bore without women. That is obvious but perhaps it isn\u2019t obvious to some people, so any way we can celebrate Women In Horror is a good thing. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
\n<\/strong>Angelica Houston, Jenna Kennel, Kate Kiddo, Carolann Van Natten, Rae Dawn Chong, Tippy Hedron, Felissa Rose, Barbara Steele, Helen Bonham Carter, Catherine Mary Stewart, Kelli Maroney, Sigourney Weaver, and Pam Grier to name a few.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sara Sometti Michaels is a writer\/producer\/actor and friend who shines in her love of horror. I absolutely adore working with her and think she is extremely talented. She was the original writer\/producer for St. Agatha, a nunsploitation feature I acted in, during 2017. I had the pleasure of working with her again on my directorial debut on Dead by Midnight Y2Kill as the producer of the segment and then again in I\u2019ll Be Watching, where Sara both wrote and produced the film. She is amazing! I look forward to what she creates in the future.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
\n<\/strong>I have almost completed my first feature length film as Director titled, Dark Circles that stars Damian Maffei. It is a horror-thriller about a peeping tom and the terrible events that haunt him.\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>I also just wrapped on a feature I produced and acted in, called Bunker Heights. It\u2019s a creature-feature horror-comedy that is like if C.H.U.D and Lethal Weapon had a baby.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>These films are nothing like one another, only they share a few of the same actors.\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>They can be found on any of my social media, which are under my First and last name As well as The trailers on YouTube.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
