\nHi, I\u2019m KJ Alfrey! I\u2019m a happy horror lover and proud cat mom!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre? <\/strong>
\nI think the beautiful thing about horror in general is that there is something for everyone in this genre. It\u2019s expanded so much, and I love that there\u2019s such a freedom with horror in what\u2019s being created and how it\u2019s all created as well.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What made you want to work in horror? <\/strong>
\nI fell in love with horror as a kid, growing up and watching A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13<\/span>th<\/span>. When I was introduced later the Scream and more of Wes Cravens work later on, there was no going back at that point. I love the social commentary, thoughtfulness and wonderful playful nature of horror films and always wanted to become a final girl, like Jamie Lee Curtis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where do you get your inspiration? <\/strong>
\nEverywhere! Everything and everyone is a teacher and inspiration. I find the real horrors come from real life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)? <\/strong>
\nI want to make people scream, laugh and feel on deeper levels than they normally do. Connecting with others in that magical way is the best thing ever.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others? <\/strong>
\nJennifer Nangle \u201cQueen Malvolia\u201d, Elvira, Vampira, Sigourney Weaver, Neve Campbell, Heather Langenkamp, Jennifer Tilly and of course the Scream Queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis. And of course, women like Emilie Black that create such a beautiful horror community in Los Angeles.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
