After the successful push of the Eras tour with Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga followed in kind with her own pretty raucous concert film. Titled \u201cChromatica Ball,\u201d Gaga, the jack of many trades, wows with two hours of some of her biggest hits, while also delivering on a very entertaining visual show filled with excellent set design and some fun costumes (including custom pieces from Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, and Vex Latex). While I wouldn\u2019t consider myself a hardcore fan of Lady Gaga per se, I do admire her talents, and think she\u2019s a very entertaining singer and artist altogether.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cChromatica Ball\u201d is competently directed by Kerry Asmussen and Gaga herself and comprises two hours of Gaga\u2019s twisted pop tunes and filmed at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in 2022. Gaga really rocks the stage for two whole hours consistently demanding the audiences participation and never lagging behind her charismatic dance back up and fellow performers. The pair of directors allow Gaga to present her unique beauty while she confidently belts out a ton of her wonderful music.<\/p>\n

The concert film is brought a decade after her Monster Ball tour with Gaga performer in front of a virtually sold out audience. The concert is presented in a five act structure chronicling a lot of Gaga\u2019s big turns and twists in pop music, her toying with rock, and her soulful dance music. She opens the concert with three of her most iconic songs, the epic \u201cBad Romance,\u201d \u201cJust Dance,\u201d and \u201cPoker Face,\u201d and with Act I belts out \u201cAlice,\u201d \u201cReplay,\u201d and the excellent \u201cMonster.\u201d With Act II we get a harder change of direction as she engages in a lot of dance and heavy guitar with \u201cFlowers,\u201d \u201c911,\u201d \u201cSour Candy,\u201d \u201cTelephone\u201d and the very good \u201cLoveGame.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Gaga has such an infectious energy and great stage presence that even I had a tough time breaking my attention from the concert, which says a lot. Act III digs in to \u201cThe Birth of Freedom,\u201d \u201cBabylon\u201d (which sounded like an interesting throwback to Madonna\u2019s \u201cVogue\u201d), \u201cFree Woman,\u201d and a passionate rendition of her beloved anthem \u201cBorn this Way,\u201d which she begins with the declaration \u201cLet\u2019s all celebrate our pride!\u201d \u00a0For Act IV, Gaga continues with more conservative piano based performances of songs like \u201cTamara\u201d and then one of my all time favorites: her song \u201cShallow\u201d from \u201cA Star is Born.\u201d Then there\u2019s the great \u201cAlways Remember Us This Way,\u201d a wonderful and heartfelt rendition of \u201cThe Edge of Glory,\u201d \u201cAngel Down,\u201d \u201cFun Tonight,\u201d and finally \u201cEnigma.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the Finale, Gaga continues her high energy farewell going out on a high note, belting out \u201cStupid Love,\u201d and then the very good dance song \u201cRain On Me.\u201d Finally she closes on the soulful and passionate \u201cHold My Hand.\u201d Even for casual Gaga fans, \u201cChromatica\u201d is a fun and beautifully composed playlist of some of Gaga\u2019s best music of her career. It\u2019s a surefire banger in the annals of modern concert films.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
