If he was too campy, he was berated for not being serious enough. When he was too serious, he was berated for \u201closing his sense of humor.\u201d With \u201cDiary of the Dead,\u201d Romero has a very unique and important statement to make about the media, misinformation, and the dangers of social media. With \u201cDiary of the Dead,\u201d Romero bounces back and forth between cheeky camp and some stern warnings about misinformation and sensationalism during very real times.<\/p>\n<p>With this iteration of the zombie apocalypse, it isn\u2019t so much the death of death that kills us, but the lack of information for the sake of entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I think \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/31\/diary-of-the-dead-2007\/\">Diary of the Dead<\/a>\u201d is painfully misunderstood and spawns some great imagery Romero had a talent for. Whether it was the charred highway ranger shambling in a highway, or the CCTV zombie invasion, it leaves a considerable mark. \u201cDiary of the Dead\u201d isn\u2019t a perfect movie, though, as the performances from the main cast stink, and character decisions don\u2019t make a lot of sense. But the movie works in getting its point across and is pretty a damn spooky statement about humanity. It\u2019s an aspect that Romero always thrived at, whether it was \u201cDawn of the Dead\u201d or \u201cThe Amusement Park.\u201d Romero didn\u2019t have a lot of hope for us, even in the very end.<\/p>\n<p>And can you blame him?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DiaryOfTheDead-Blu-ray-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44504\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DiaryOfTheDead-Blu-ray-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DiaryOfTheDead-Blu-ray-2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DiaryOfTheDead-Blu-ray-2-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinema-crazed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DiaryOfTheDead-Blu-ray-2-2x1.jpg 2w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>This Wal-Mart Exclusive Steelbook is primarily for collectors of this specific niche of the physical media market. There is brand new art that invokes the mood of the movie well. The art is ideal for this kind of movie, as the previous releases for this film always had shoddy art work. The Blu-Ray content is carried over from the 2008 Dimension Extreme Blu-Ray. Which were carried over from the DVD port.<\/p>\n<p>In either case, for a refresher we get <strong>a commentary by Writer\/Director George Romero, Director of Photography Adam Swica, and Editor Michael Doherty<\/strong>; there\u2019s the eighty minutes documentary <strong>For the Record: The Making of the Diary in 5 parts<\/strong>. There\u2019s also the two minutes <strong>The Roots: The inspiration for the film<\/strong>, the four minutes <strong>The First Week: A visit to the set<\/strong>, the five minutes <strong>Familiar Voices: Cameo outtakes<\/strong>, the twenty minutes <strong>Character Confessionals<\/strong>, and finally the very dated, charmingly vintage <strong>MySpace Contest Winners: 5 Zombie films from Filmmaker fans.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Later in his career, George Romero never could win with audiences.
