I thought this was going to be something completely different and well, when I say I’ll review something, I do. So, let’s start with who are The Fabulous Thunderbirds: The Fabulous Thunderbirds are a band started in 1974 by Kim Wilson and Jimmie Vaughan, singer/harmonica player and guitarist respectively. Vaughan is the brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan for those wondering. The band plays a mix of Blues, Cajun, Soul, and Rock, something that is it sounds like your type of music, it likely is. If it doesn’t sound like your kind of music, it probably isn’t. And due to my mistake, I discovered that it isn’t my kind of music. That being said, it’s not bad, it’s just not for me.

So, the musicians here are talented, they have decent songs (for those who love the style), and they play live really well. The Blu-ray presentation here really allows the sound to be great and the music to shine. The quality is good. As for the visual quality of things, the high definition looks really good and gives the viewer a front row seat to the show, even a sort of on-stage seat, for the performance. For fans of the band, the set presented here includes Slow Down, Postman, Rock with Me, Got to Get Out, Painted On, Two Time Fool, Wait on Time, Wrap It Up, Pretty Baby, Tuff Enough, and Marked Deck. The set is a decent length to put on a disc for release, but it feels a bit short for someone who is used to 1990s and 2000s concerts with shows that went on for hours. That being said, the band plays well live here and makes the most of the set they present here.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds: Live in Houston is a good presentation of a show for a band I knew nothing about going it. I still know very little about them beyond that they play well live, their show is a bit static without much scene space to go nuts over, and they play relatively short shows. As it is, this new release on Blu-ray from Cleopatra Records will be of interest to fans of the band and its members, but not too much to anyone else.

Available from Cleopatra Records on 01/17/2025 A live show recorded in 2006 at the warehouse in Houston.

[4
698
post-45956","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-collectors-den","tag-music
["GET
