Bugs is confused and exclaims, \u201cBut I don\u2019t have a drove!\u201d Instead, Bugs climbs into a boxcar on the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and encounters a pair of hungry hoboes who resemble Jackie Gleason\u2019s Ralph Kramden and Art Carney\u2019s Ed Norton. The duo envisions Bugs as their long-overdue meal, but Bugs is not easily captured.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>One of the very few Bugs Bunny shorts that is a start-to-finish misfire, \u201cHalf-Fare Hare\u201d is fascinating for its sheer badness. The animation has a dull flat look, Tedd Pierce\u2019s script is without laughs, and Carl Stalling never samples \u201cChattanooga Choo-Choo\u201d despite heavily emphasized references to the classic tune. <\/p>\n<p>An uncredited Daws Butler does decent imitations of Gleason and Kramden, but it makes little sense that the characters from \u201cThe Honeymooners\u201d are railroad hoboes that want to kill and eat Bugs. For that matter, Bugs\u2019 behavior is more simplistic and lethargic than usual, and the closing gag (a rare case where he doesn\u2019t come out on top) is wholly unsatisfactory.<\/p>\n<p>The Termite Terrace crew had more luck spoofing \u201cThe Honeymooners\u201d later in 1956 with \u201cThe Honey-Mousers,\u201d which reimagined the 326 Chauncey Street residents as mice.
