Written by Matthew Robert Kelly and Stu Small, and directed by Elliott Montello, Reckless\u00a0is a fun action film with tons of action, so it serves exactly what it\u00a0advertises.\u00a0Let\u2019s\u00a0be honest, most folks will come to this film to see fights and to see people get kicked by\u00a0Adkins,\u00a0and the story delivers on this. The rest of the elements work as well, but they\u00a0seem to take\u00a0a backseat to the action sequences. Yes,\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0some character development, some connections\u00a0between\u00a0the characters, and a few dramatic moments, but the film knows what it is, and a big drama it\u00a0ain\u2019t.\u00a0The film makes no qualms about what it is and what it\u00a0isn\u2019t;\u00a0it goes for\u00a0broke\u00a0on its\u00a0action,\u00a0and it makes sure that the characters are decently developed while not spending too much time on that aspect.\u00a0The story may be a bit thin and a bit predictable, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0serviceable and so is the direction.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, the cast is the main appeal here. Somewhere between Scott Adkins and Vinnie Jones, folks expect action, and lots of it. As preparation to see the film, fair warning, but Jones\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0have all that much screen time and during those few minutes, he does his best Vinnie\u00a0Jones as\u00a0a criminal boss.\u00a0He does well, but it feels really familiar.\u00a0As the lead, Scott Adkins gives the kind of performance one can expect as well: Violent\u00a0with\u00a0more nuance than most when it comes to the drama\u00a0than most of his peers.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0a solid action actor who also pays attention to the acting and not just the action which shoes here.\u00a0Getting the most screen time from the rest of the cast is Nicole Deon as Kimber. She adds a\u00a0little something\u00a0extra, that extra drama that will keep some paying attention. She also gives a more than decent performance, showing she can\u00a0hold her own. This being her second feature film (after a musical and two tv roles),\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0someone to watch,\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0good and\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0fun.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The look of the film here is interesting with\u00a0cinematography\u00a0and editing working together\u00a0like\u00a0a team. The film has that modern action\u00a0look\u00a0with tons of energy coming\u00a0off of\u00a0the images while allowing the viewers to see the action and the fights. It is\u00a0cut in an energetic way without robbing the audience of a proper viewer on the fights. There is a ton going on here and between the framing, the camera movements, and the\u00a0editing,\u00a0it could easily become too\u00a0much,\u00a0but it never does. The look, movement, and energy of the film add to the fun and\u00a0the entertainment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reckless is a fun action film that keeps the viewer interested throughout its run with a solid lead performance, a\u00a0really good\u00a0supporting lady, and a general supporting cast that works decently for the film. It\u00a0also\u00a0decently written and directed while the images work great.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
