You have to appreciate the inherent ambition behind a film like \u201cThe Girl\u2026,\u201d because director Thimijan doesn\u2019t just give us a story about a girl who can in reality run 600 miles per hour. Instead his film is about monotony and the confines the work life, and how this extraordinary ability allows her to pursue feats that she normally couldn’t once we get to know her. And it\u2019s quite a whimsical story with a sweet message about life, and your goals. Thimijan aims for a more \u201cPunch Drunk Love\u201d vibe with a story of a man whose work a day life is mostly unfulfilling in spite of his best efforts to fit in and change his normal routine. All of that comes into a different perspective when he meets the girl who can run 600 miles per hour.<\/p>\n
The scenes involved with him finally coming across her show and watching her vainly attempt to build up speed in a small gymnasium basically sum up the whole allegory for the inability of a person to fully comprehend their potential in a closed in setting, but once out in the open, they can really take on whatever the road brings them. Thimijan\u2019s character study is a sweet and interesting look at the human condition and the ability to go places when not confined to a single confining setting. The main character here is confined by his own insecurities and monotonous work zone, but once he meets the girl who can run 600 mph, his whole view on pursuing different roads is changed. Thimijan\u2019s film is well crafted, satisfying, and it\u2019s worth watching.
