Writer, Director, Actress, Model, and More Morrigan Milam Interview [Women in Horror Month 2024]

Writer, director, actress, model, and more Morrigan Milam:

To start, please introduce yourself:
My name is Morrigan Milam. I’m a writer, director, actress, model, cosplayer and Aquarius.

What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
Horror to me is finding that really unpleasant place nobody likes to go and taking it beyond that. I like to see people squirm.

What made you want to work in horror?
I’ve always loved the horror genre. Since I was in diapers I’ve been partaking in spooky things. My childhood fav was “Evil Dead 2”.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I pull from a few places depending on the content of the script but for the most part I really look up to people like Bruce Campbell & Lloyd Kauffman.

What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
I want to be known as the gal who created fun and unsettling horror with people she cherishes for people cherishes. Because the Indie Community as a whole is phenomenal and deserves to have exceptional content to view.

What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
Women don’t get enough recognition and respect still to this day. It’s important to highlight those who constantly give to this genre, be it writing, acting or doing wardrobe on sets.

Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
Gosh there are so many cool ghouls to choose from. I really admire Katelynn Newberry who is an Ohio local actress that I’ve worked with when I was FIRST starting out. She’s so talented and sweet! Someone I’d really like to see shine would be Zoe aka Ossuary Angel (on Instagram) who is a multitalented artist. I also have to mention some of the most talked about gals, for good reason, such as Jessa Flux, Angel Bradford and Kelsey Baker.

What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
I’m currently doing remote roles for James Carnes “Killer Cocks: Just When You Thought it was Safe to Go Back in the Coop” as reporter Ruby Romero and Matt Skinner’s “Air Fryer Slaughter”. I will be solo directing a film titled “Lesbian Ouija Board” written by Jason Rodger’s.

Thank you for doing this interview and sharing Women in Horror with everyone. It means the world to me. Blessed be.
