Meet mermaid Tess Mormont:
To start, please introduce yourself:
My name is Tess Mormont aka Siren Signet. I am an accountant, a professional mermaid, a horror movie actor, a pole dancer, a military police army veteran, and a lover of dogs.
What is horror to you, what makes a work of art one in the horror genre?
To me, horror is a way to express truth in a way that is artistic. Also to help us learn all the terrible things that possibly COULD happen. Always best to be prepared. As a species we love horror, its a way of opening yourself up to all possibilities and become okay with gore. As a military veteran It is entertaining at this point to me as opposed to terrifying.
What made you want to work in horror?
It is so much fun! Horror is an art that you can be either completely over the top or very serious. Its somewhere you can really flex your creative muscles and deal with things you wouldn’t normally do.
Where do you get your inspiration?
From other movies, from real life and from just observing around me. People watching. You can learn more than you think doing that.
What would you like your legacy to be in the genre (or elsewhere)?
I would love to do a horror Siren movie, I think that would be amazing and so much fun.
What is Women in Horror Month to you and why is it still important this many years later?
Its something we can look to and remember. its a month for those hard working women that are ready to do what it takes to make something work. Women are amazing and we will make it work always.
Who are some of the Women in Horror who you look up to and who do you want to bring attention to in your field or others?
Morgan Ziva is absolutely amazing! She has done a lot of great movies and she’s an incredible person.
What are you currently working on that you can tell us about?
I am currently working on a movie called The Yule Monster! I have a few scenes and some of the film will be shot at my home!
